Rainy Day Activities
If you’d rather save a few bucks and don’t want to indulge in the many attractions and shopping centers Myrtle Beach has to offer, here’s a few more ideas to keep you busy when it rains:

Look for shells
Some of the best shells can be found during and immediately after a good rain. Be sure it’s safe to go outdoors and bring a basket or a bag to collect some goodies. They make a perfect souvenir to bring home or a special gift or accessory for your home. Enjoy the peace and quiet before the crowds hit the beach again in search of the sun.

Eat out at a restaurant
Myrtle Beach is home to over 1,000 restaurants, from steak houses to endless seafood buffets. Fan favorites for a rainy day include Oscar’s in North Myrtle Beach, the many restaurants at The Market Common, Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach. Fans love to waste the day away at Margaritaville! If you’re craving something specific try any of our fabulous Italian restaurants, pizza parlors, sandwich shops, sushi spots and raw bars.

Relax in your hotel
Use the rainy day as quality time to unwind in your Myrtle Beach hotel or rental. Relax, read a book or take a nap. Just be sure to leave your balcony door cracked so you can hear the rain against the waves. Some fans said they use these days to teach their kids new games or have fun movie marathons (Jaws, anyone?). Check with your hotel to see if they offer free DVD rentals or in-room movie selections.

Go swimming
Our visitors take advantage of the indoor amenities at their Myrtle Beach resort like the pools, hot tubs and lazy rivers. Some of them even said they’ll swim outside as long as there’s no lightning. Like one fan said, you’re wet anway.” Click here for a list of hotels with great indoor pools and water features.
