Ripley’s Aquarium

Beat the wet weather with a trip to our famous aquarium, Ripley’s Aquarium, located at Broadway at the Beach. Ripley’s Aquarium is home to an array of aquatic life, including sharks, stingrays, jellyfish and so much more! As of 2020, adorable penguins are on permanent vacation at Ripley’s Penguin Playhouse inside the aquarium.
Hands-on activities include petting stingrays, holding horseshoe crabs, or even experiencing a fun Penguin Encounter. The aquarium is a great place to spend a day dodging a summer storm or just taking a break from the sun!

Rockin' Jump

Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center

One of Myrtle Beach’s newer attractions, Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center offers three fun activities under one roof. This family-friendly facility has something for every age. Wander through rooms full of wax statues representing your favorite Hollywood actors at the Hollywood Wax Museum. Run from terrifying, blood-thirsty zombies at Outbreak:Dread the Undead. Or, save Princess Hannah in Hannah’s Maze of Mirrors. You can choose to do only one adventure, but it’s always more fun to do all three with the All Access Pass– especially on rainy days.

Duplin Winery

If you’re enjoying a couples retreat or a girls trip to the beach, a day at Duplin Winery may just be the cure for the rainy day blues. Duplin Winery is a laid-back good time located at Barefoot Landing. Enjoy a wine tasting that includes samples of the winery’s signature muscadine wines with a knowledgeable staff member to guide you through.

WonderWorks Myrtle Beach

Make no mistake – this is an upside-down building. And it’s packed with over 100 science-based interactive exhibits where visitors can lie down on a bed of nails, play virtual major league sports, explore Mars, fly a fighter jet, and much much more. There’s also laser tag, a 6D theater, and a ropes challenge course. This is a perfect place to spend several hours if the weatherman is calling for day of rain.
Rainy Day Shows
The list of shows along the Grand Strand almost reads like a choose-your-own-adventure – Alabama Theater, Carolina Opry, Charles Bach’s Wonders. With shows daily at most of the theaters, the entertainment is available year round, rain or shine.

Carolina Opry Theater

The Carolina Opry Theater is home to a variety of shows that run throughout the year, a perfect indoor escape on a rainy vacation day. The Carolina Opry Show is an award-winning extravaganza that blends two hours of high-energy music, comedy and dance in a luxurious theater complete with state-of-the-art lighting, sound and special effects. Time Warp takes guests through the music of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s with a fast-paced and exciting show. Celebrate the holidays in the winter months with the beloved Carolina Opry Christmas Show.
The Alabama Theatre, located at Barefoot Landing, is home to two exciting shows along with guest artists throughout the year. ONE The Show delivers an upbeat live show with music, dance and comedy from February through October. In November and December, the South’s Grandest Christmas Show brings the joy of the Christmas season to the Myrtle Beach stage.

GTS Theatre

Looking for a show off the beaten path? GTS Theatre offers a fun and unforgettable change from the ordinary. GTS Theatre is a 1920’s-style cabaret theatre with an art deco theme featuring the Original Motown Tribute Show in Myrtle Beach along with a variety of other shows throughout the year.
Rainy Day Games
When is the last time you took your entire family or a bunch of your close friends out bowling?
