Top 10 Bars for Singles in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach has a thriving scene for singles at many area bars.
Myrtle Beach has a thriving scene for singles at many area bars.

Even in the Internet age, with matchmaking websites all the rage, it’s still nice for singles to get out to mix and mingle. Maybe that love connection that singles are so eager to make is just around the corner in the same place where karaoke, the big game, and happy hour chicken wings rule the roost.

Here are our picks for the Top Ten Single’s Bars along the Grand Strand.

Soho 406 21st Avenue North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577

Soho. Part urban chic, part casual Japanese cocktail lounge, sushi bar and restaurant, Soho, near downtown Myrtle Beach manages to appeal to that rarest combination of singles and couples of all ages, who intermingle comfortably. While many of our picks lean toward a certain age group, Soho does not. Young, old and in between are all welcome.

Liberty Tap Room & Grill

Liberty Tap Room/Liberty Brewery & Grill 7651 N Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572

We’ll include both Liberty properties as one entry; Liberty Tap Room at 76th Ave North, and Liberty Brewery & Grill at Broadway at the Beach, because they both attract a similar crowd. Large groups of men and women, with lots of singles, congregate at these two restaurants, especially after work, or for big televised sporting events. A great Happy Hour helps the draw.

Greg Norman’s Australian Grille

Greg Norman's Australian Grille 4930 Highway 17 South, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582

On the north end of the Grand Strand, at Barefoot Resort along the Intracoastal Waterway, Greg Norman’s casual but upscale ambience attracts a slightly more mature crowd of singles to the large outdoor deck and inside lounge. Happy Hour draws big crowds year-round, and the seasonal live music helps set the mood for romance.

Bubba’s Love Shak

Bubba's Love Shak 4031 Hwy 17 Business, Murrell's Inlet, SC 29576

How could we not include Bubba’s on the Marsh Walk in Murrells Inlet on this list? The name alone implies that love is in the salt air. In the warmer months, Bubba’s encourages singles of all ages to congregate during the late afternoon and Happy Hour, but after 10 p.m., this is the 20-something Mecca of Murrells Inlet.

King Kong Sushi

King Kong Sushi 2120 Oakheart Rd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579

With two locations serving the Grand Strand; one in Carolina Forest, the other at Broadway at the Beach, King Kong Sushi attracts a mixed-age crowd that leans toward college aged and 20-something as the night wears on. Sophisticated, yet casual, and serving excellent sushi, King Kong might just deliver a king size romance.

Hot Fish Club

Hot Fish Club 4911 Hwy 17 Business, Murrells Inlet, SC 29526

This Murrells Inlet restaurant features two bars, both popular with locals and visitors. The one on the inside, attached to the restaurant is friendly, and casual, with an air of style without being snooty. The gazebo bar outside, especially on weekend nights with live music, is a no-holds barred free-for-all singles mishmash of mostly 20 and 30-somethings, and after reception wedding partiers.

2001 Nightclub

2001 Nightclub 920 Lake Arrowhead Rd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572

An iconic venue especially appealing to a mature crowd of beach music fans, 2001 is a place to find very mature guests, all dolled up and ready to dance like they were 20-year-olds, even if they’re in their 50s, 60s, and 70s. A separate, more modern nightclub, within the 2001 building, plays dance and club hits that younger patrons enjoy. The club is one of the largest in the area, and one where love is always in the air.

Handley’s Pub and Grub

Handley's 3873 Renee Drive, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579

This local’s secret in Carolina Forest takes a GPS or sharp cab driver to find. On weekends and late nights it’s packed with college kids and a younger crowd from the neighboring Carolina Forest community. Just 10 minutes west of Myrtle Beach, this English-styled Pub is comfortable and safe for all ages, and especially popular with 20-somethings.

NOSH 10880 Ocean Highway, Pawleys Island, SC 29585

In Pawleys Island, just 30 minutes south of Myrtle Beach, NOSH combines a romantic, historic restaurant, with an open-air bar/lounge and deck that attracts a well-styled crowd who appreciate fine Happy Hour food and drinks, and live music in season. NOSH may be just the place to strike up a romance, especially for the 30-plus crowd.

Fat Harold’s Beach Club

Fat Harold's Beach Club 212 Main St., North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582

The Shag is the official dance of South Carolina, and shaggers of all ages have been visiting Fat Harold’s in North Myrtle Beach for generations. Mature singles come in large groups for weekly shag lessons, and in-season, on weekends, there’s enough love going around to make Cupid blush.
