About Myrtle Beach Skywheel
The centerpiece of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel offers soaring panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. When it opened in 2011, it forever changed the downtown Myrtle Beach skyline. Standing 200 feet above the ocean, the SkyWheel features 42 climate-controlled, enclosed gondolas, which seat up to 6 passengers.
The wheel was the first of its kind in the United States and the largest wheel of any kind in the U.S. when it was constructed in 2011. In 2026, SkyWheel Myrtle Beach is celebrating it’s 15th Anniversary. The Non-reflective glass on the gondolas makes the SkyWheel an ideal spot to take photos of the beach and the surrounding area, leaving guests with lasting memories.
Rides range from $20.99 for adults, and $16.99 for kids over 3 years old. Children under 3 ride free and each standard gondola seats six people. Although the gondolas can seat up to 6 people, separate parties will not be combined. That means you won’t get stuck riding with strangers!
VIP flights are $99 for up to four people to ride. VIP flights allow riders to skip the line and hop into a special gondola with glass floors and leather bucket seats. VIP riders enjoy a double ride and a free photo to commemorate the experience. The VIP gondola seats 4 people.
The Skywheel also offers a Sunrise Flight experience on select dates for early birds hoping to catch a spectacular sunrise over the Atlantic. The sunrise flight is 30 minutes long and includes coffee and pastries and starts at $34.99 per person.
In addition to the rides, the SkyWheel lights up the beach with a nightly light show, which can also be turned into a gender reveal! The SkyWheel gets decked out for the holidays with red bows and green garland. If you’re hungry after you take a ride, you can take advantage of Landshark Bar & Grill, a Jimmy Buffet eatery serving up burgers, sandwiches, salads, and more, along with cold drinks. Landshark sits at the base of the SkyWheel offering amazing food and drinks options with a spectacular view of the Atlantic ocean. Along the Boardwalk, you’ll find plenty of food and drink options, plus free concerts and entertainment during the summer months.
