The funnest things to do in Myrtle Beach as told by a 7-year-old
As many of you know, it’s that time of year when school gets out and more and more visitors begin to rush to the beach.
Well, for us here living in Myrtle Beach the school year also wrapped up this week, which means that I had the pleasure of bringing my 7-year-old son, Miles, to the office with me for a day.
Since he’s got a long summer ahead of him, I decided it would only be right to put him to work before he settles into a schedule of relaxing and playing all day. So, I sat him down, made him “editor for a day” and asked him to tell me all of his favorite things to do in Myrtle Beach.
What follows is the list he came up with, along with a brief description in his own words — cleaned up slightly for grammar and legibility — of why these are the most fun attractions in Myrtle Beach.
And before you think “ Wait, why am I taking advice from a 7-year-old?” keep this in mind.
While Miles is absolutely your ordinary, everyday kid in most every way, he’s also about as much of an expert on local attractions as you can be at his age. He was born and raised at the beach, his dad has been covering events & tourism since before he was born and chances are he’s been mini golfing more times this year than you have in your whole life.
The Beach
“I just love it because you get to go in the water and build sandcastles. Playing in the waves is great. It’s fun and it’s kinda silly when people get knocked down by the waves and they laugh.”
Miniature Golf
“Picking what color ball you want and hitting it hard is the best part. It’s so fun much I cannot even think about it right now. My best one is Dragon’s Lair (at Broadway at the Beach). The others ones are kinda lame sometimes, but it’s great because it has a dragon that talks and there are always ducks there and you can play in the fountain by it.”

“I like the Pirate Ship, because when you ride it goes up and up again like this (mimics swaying motion). There’s a lot of rides too and the teacups are there that I ride with my grandma. You can also do a lot of other stuff there too. Broadway at the beach is fun.”
Myrtle Beach Boardwalk
“When you go there you get to run and sit on benches, and watch people run on the beach and you can even you can run and play on the beach too!”

“This one is the best because we got to on LOTS OF WATERSLIDES! The racing one, where you race other people was so silly I could not even believe it.”
Alligator Adventure

“I went there with summer camp once. It’s was fun and I saw parrots and turtles and snakes…and the alligator. The alligator tank was really cool. We got so close to them and they didn’t even bother us.”

“I do not like Mellow Mushroom. But really I do. You see, because of the pizza there. But they have good garlic bread. It is really crazy and there’s a bus in there and you know what? You can sit in it.”
“I like all the arcades, but this one is the best because I get to play a lot of games and sometimes my brother cries when I beat him at air hockey there.”
“The children’s museum has a lot of stuff. I always play somewhere there that has a lot of games, like where the babies usually play. Also there’s a pirate ship and I got to pull the big bubble over top of me. It’s just so fun!”

“I remember when we went on the 3D rollercoaster there and daddy almost fell out and got sick. They have that bubble thing just like the kids museum but it’s better there. There is also a lot of games there … and one more thing, I also really like the bed of nails.”

“They have two roller coasters there. One roller coaster that I could ride, but one that I couldn’t and I was not happy about that part. But it’s good because there’s the Ferris wheel, and the choo choo train and those race cars too. And I went on that Wild Mouse ride that went around in circles and I thought we were gonna fall off.”
“This is my favorite place to eat because they have good chicken there and also the noodles. But really I like to go there and play cornhole and stay outside. There’s a lake there and me and brother look for fish.”

“Oh, I’ve been there a bunch of times. It’s really fun and it goes around. And sometimes we get stuck at the top…but I don’t get scared. I just like it because you can see the beach.”

“I remember that the knights were going up against each other and the the red knight went up against the guy with an eyepatch and he won so everybody was happy. I also got a cool glowing sword so that was good.”
“We saw jellyfish and sharks and turtles and sometime fish and you know what else? There were predators in the water. I loved the Hammerhead Shark. He moves all side to side and when predators come along he bangs them with his head.”

“This one is good because it has a skating rink. I went there and tried to skate I could kinda skate, but I a little bit could not skate too can. And they also have some good bouncies there. One time I lost two teeth on that. Please, can we go there right now?”
