Top Places to Shop for Tax Free Weekend 2019
It’s that time of year again. July has come to an end and August is bringing in lots of fun events for the Myrtle Beach area. Year after year Tax Free Weekend proves to be the most anticipated shopping event of the summer, and this year will be no different. For parents who are getting their children ready for the upcoming school year, and for college students who are preparing to set up their dorms, it is difficult not to fork over some cash for school necessities.
Thankfully, though, each August the state of South Carolina provides tax relief on school related purchases. Tax free items include, but are not limited to: clothing, clothing accessories (hats, scarves, etc.) footwear, school supplies, computers, printers, software, bedding, and bathroom accessories.
If you’re going to be in Myrtle Beach during the weekend of August 2-4, 2019, then you’re in luck. Tax Free Weekend will be taking place at many shops along the Grand Strand. For those of you planning to spend some money without having to worry about paying sales tax, we’ve compiled a helpful list of places to shop. Check it out:
Barefoot Landing

Located in North Myrtle Beach, this outdoor mall contains stores that carry apparel, gifts, accessories, and more. While you’re shopping for your first-day-of-school outfit, you will most likely get hungry. Thankfully, Barefoot Landing boasts a large amount of restaurants for all different tastes. That way, once you’re done trying on some cool clothes at Ron Jon Surf Shop, you can sink your teeth into a delicious burger at River City Cafe!
Broadway at the Beach

Many of the accessories you will find here won’t be tax free, unfortunately, but there are plenty of shops here that offer clothing which will be great for your back to school purposes. Find cool and funny t-shirts, cute dresses, and fun shoes at Broadway at the Beach all while enjoying the plenty of attractions and restaurants available at this outdoor shopping plaza.
Coastal Grand Mall

Featuring stores for all ages and styles, Coastal Grand Mall is a great choice for back to school shoppers looking for the coolest clothes and accessories. There are many department stores such as Belk, Dillard’s, JCPenney, and Sears featured at this mall, so you can find everything all in one place. Head on over to Inlet Square Mall for some stress-free tax free shopping. Once you’re done picking out stationary, notebooks, and writing utensils at Books-A-Million, check out Bath & Body Works for any sheets, blankets, or linens you may need for your dorm. Or, if you’re in need of some cool new outfits, look through the departments at Belk and see if anything catches your eye.
Market Common

If you’re feelin’ a little fancy this school season, try shopping at Market Common. Featuring many cute and quaint boutiques, girls are sure to stun their friends with their awesome new dresses. Guys can also find some cool clothes here at stores like Orvis and Tommy Bahama. Need a new computer? No problem! Market Common also contains a City Mac Apple store where you can find all of your electronic needs. Don’t forget to pick up your books and planners at Barnes and Noble!

Though currently undergoing renovations, Myrtle Beach Mall offers Tax Free Weekend shoppers with a variety of stores to choose from. Find your perfect back-to-school book bag or purse from Bags Unlimited. Guys, find cool apparel from Fun Wear Sports and Bass Pro Shops, while the girls find the perfect outfits from Belk and JCPenney. Of course, there is always Foot Locker to suit everyone’s needs.
Tanger Outlets

Lucky for you, there are two Tanger Outlets locations in the area. Take advantage of tax free shopping in the Carolina Forest area of Myrtle Beach, or spend your cash at the North Myrtle Beach location.
