Description
About Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries

The 50’s were a time of relative prosperity and tranquility in America. It was a decade in-between major conflicts, the economy was fertile, and everyone in town knew everyone else’s name. So it’s easy to see why the dining style from that era lives on in eateries around the country.

Hwy 55 seeks to re-create the look, feel, and taste of the 50’s, serving classic American dishes in a sleek, shiny space.

Hwy 55 Food

The menu here is made up mostly of timeless classics, the Original Special being a cheeseburger made however you want it – one, two, or three patties; cheese and/or bacon; your choice of mustard, onions, slaw, chili, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, pickles, jalapeno peppers, grilled mushrooms, grilled onions, and grilled bell peppers. The burgers are fresh, never frozen, and hand-pattied in-house. In addition to the build-your-own, the Specialty Burger list includes the John Boy & Bill Bacon Cheeseburger, a (fried) Shrimp Burger, and a Pimento Cheeseburger.

The Drive-In Platters include Shrimp, Chicken, or Hamburger Steak, each served with fries, slaw, and Texas Toast. If you’re in the mood for a Famous Sandwich, choose from Chicken Cordon Bleu, the John Boy & Billy Chicken Sandwich, Shrimp Po’ Boy, Chicken Cheesesteak, or a classic Cheesesteak, and pair any of them with French Fries, Gravy Fries, Chili Cheese Fries, or Onion Rings. And the Other Favorites section of the menu is where you’ll find more basic things like a Grilled Cheese, Garden Salad, or BLT.

And this is the type of place where you’ll want to save some room for dessert, if only to get the full experience. The list of sweet things revolves around Frozen Custard, which they make in-store throughout the day. Have it in Scoops, as a Sundae, in a Shake, or on its own topped with your choice of all manner or sugary goodies.

Hwy 55 Atmosphere

Think black-and-white tiled floors, simple pastels adorning the chairs, and booths that look like the bench seats of a classic car. It’s a family-oriented eatery, so the atmosphere might be lively with kids, or just couples hitting the town for date night.
