10 Places to Get Chicken Bog in Myrtle Beach

If you’ve ever been to Myrtle Beach or surrounding areas of the Grand Strand, then maybe you’ve heard of chicken bog. And, most likely, whenever you’ve heard the word “chicken bog” you’ve questioned in your head or out loud “what the heck is that?”

Chicken bog is a dish that is comprised of rice, chicken, and sausage, and it is very popular in the Myrtle Beach/Horry County area. Many people eat chicken bog simply with the main ingredients, and others add items into the mix such as onion and various spices; it just depends on the cook!

No matter which way chicken bog is served, most people who try it agree that it is a delicious, hearty meal that represents the South Carolina Lowcountry with its simple yet readily available ingredients. However, it seems as if this dish it quite difficult to find in local restaurants on a regular basis.

Maybe this is because Myrtle Beach’s restaurant circuit is frequented by out-of-towners that probably don’t order chick bog because they’re unsure of what it is. Or maybe it’s because it is considered to be more of a “home cooked” meal. Either way, we have taken the time to compile this list of 10 places to get chicken bog in Myrtle Beach. So next time you’re here, stop by one of these awesome restaurants and try a taste of Myrtle Beach.

So Socastee Station may not cook up chicken bog in the classic way, but we’ve heard quite the buzz surrounding one of their staple menu items. Instead of offering chicken bog in a bowl or on a plate, they serve it –get this—in the form of balls! And the funny thing is, the two chefs that created it are from Pittsburgh! That’s right; when T.J. Allinder and Ed Flambard bought the Socastee Station, they decided to revamp a local favorite. Thank goodness they did. Oh, and you can also find their famous chicken bog balls at the Myrtle Beach Pelican's games!
