"Course is in very good shape from Tee to Green. Nice layout but nothing that jumps out or wows you. The par 3's are strong even though they are all about the same yardage. Hole's #9 & 18 are strong finishing holes. Course was busy but pace of play was ok. Again nice course just don't expect any pizazzz.... FYI: Greens were very fast!"

"Greens were so wet they were extremely chewed up, in terrible condition. Tees and fairways were good, but greens horrible. Not worth the drive from Myrtle. And the huge rattling fans on every green detracted from the atmosphere."

"It had not rain for a few days and temperatures reached in the upper 90's but they never told me that it was cart path only when I booked a tee time (I got Shaftesburied again...). All the so call renovation they made must have not included drainage! Care to play this course please make certain that you can ride the fairways or it will be a wet day."

"Really like this course due to excellent course conditions and bent grass greens. Will continue to play here when in MB. Only bad part was cart path only on the day we played."

"First time playing since renovations. Course is in good shape. Some thin areas on Tee Boxes & Fairways but nothing that can't be overlooked. Greens were perfect with lot's of different holes. Now the bad part: Pace of play was horrible. 4 foursomes in front of us that more into partying than golfing. Ranger came out on 6th hole & told us he was going to get them to speed up. Next 2 holes pace of play was fine but then slowed down to a crawl again. Did not see ranger again all day. Don't like being lied too!!!! . Funny, At the starter & bag drop area all the staff kept bragging on was how they keep up pace of play... Again Lip Service......"

"Staff was friendly and attentive in all areas. Course features lots of wide, green fairways, with the primary challenge coming from some very impressive sand traps and bunkers on virtually every hole. Big, gaping sand monsters protect most greens. The bentgrass greens were in fine shape and rolled very true. This is one of the more moderately easy courses in the area, but it is kept in very playable condition and offered at a reasonable rate. The biggest negative for my threesome today was that one of the course employees drove a single over in a cart to "ask" us on the first tee if the single could join our group. We were not interested in cramping the style of our annual trip to the Grand Strand, but were we going to say "no" in front of the single? We had a good time anyway, but that was the only example of pretty poor judgement by the generally friendly and helpful staff."

"Had a 7:48 tee time for me and my son (11) on a 48 hour rate (49 bucks jr free). Was worried cause in the morning from 2 am till when we got to course it was windy and raining like crazy. I didn't think we would get out at all and sky looked bad then the rain stopped. We got out early only 1 group in front of us and 2 or 3 groups behind us so pace was perfect and we didn't push or get pushed. Due to rain bunkers were ground under repair as they had all washed out but not surprised due to rain. Greens were very nice and big. We enloyed this course and will be back. I would play it again."

"Played this course on 7-2. Course was in great shape even though the greens had been punched a couple of weeks ago. There was hardly anyone playing which was surprising. My foursome had a 8:28 tee time and played all 18 holes with only one individual coming through. Had nobody ahead of us or behind us all day. Great day of golf."

"Course style is cut through trees and pines. Most fairways are wide, but it is strange that the tightest tree lined hole is ##1. Position off the tee is useful, to avoid having to approach the greens over a bunker. There is little water and no holes are on the Waccamaw river as ads may imply to you. The theme for the course is to be easier than the other Glens courses and to have "Tillinghast" style greens/bunkers. The greens are elevated and the bunkers are big and deep with grass fingers. On most holes the bunkers are on 1 side of the green with the bunkers being more plentiful on the back 9. The bent greens were good, but not as smooth as you could find them in the coming months through spring. Tees, Fairways, Bunkers were good.We played White tees at 6445 yards, which is longer than most white tees in MB. The main challenge is the elevated greens with bunker protection. I had not played here in 7 years and felt that the sand was a darker color, thicker grained and also firmer than in the past. Shaftsbury is not a very memorable design, but it is well worth playing for the conditions and replay availability. I rank it right behind the top 30 or so courses. They are building a indoor lesson building on the range, with 2 indoor hitting bays."
