Carmike Cinemas Announces “BIGD” Theatre to Open at Broadway at the Beach

Carmike "BIGD" will give moviegoers a new kind of movie experience right here in Myrtle Beach.

Carmike Cinemas, Inc. announced that it will open the first Carmike Cinemas “BIGD” theater in the Carolinas. The theater is set to take over the old IMAX building in August 2012.

Films will be shown in both 2D and 3D on giant floor-to-ceiling movie screens. “BIGD” will feature a movie experience like no other with state-of-the-art sound systems, bright picture quality and high resolution. Once in the theatre, guests will find comfortable leather rocking seats.

Carmike’s President and CEO, David Passman, is excited about the expansion in Myrtle Beach. “We're justifiably excited about bringing this innovative theatre experience to Myrtle Beach and the Carolinas," said Passman. “When you go to a movie at our "BIGD" theatre, you won't just view a film, you'll have the ultimate movie-going experience."

Carmike Cinemas will increase the number of theatres at Broadway at the Beach to seventeen once the “BIGD” project is completed in August.
