Best Myrtle Beach Bars for Draft Beer on Tap

Tin Roof is one of the newest additions to downtown Myrtle Beach, and this restaurant/bar/concert venue combination has become a favorite amongst locals and visitors. Visitors at Tin Roof have a choice from 16 draft beer selections, which they may enjoy while taking in beautiful oceanfront views from the rooftop bar! Of course, the food menu at Tin Roof is made to pair with your beverage of choice, featuring “Better than Bar Food” selections like wings, nachos, tacos, quesadillas, sandwiches, and comforts such as Nashville Hot Chicken, Candy Pig Mac & Cheese, Fish Fry, Chicken N Waffles, and more. 

With their slogan Craft Beer, Bourbon, and BBQ,” it’s no wonder that Atlas Tap House in downtown Myrtle Beach landed a spot on our list. This quaint bar is great to catch live music, but also just to stop by and grab a drink or two with friends. Atlas Tap House has at least 30 beers on tap, including IPAs, stouts, ales; anything that appeals to craft beer lovers. After a round or two of your favorite brew, be sure to order something off of the menu here. Afterall, Atlas Tap House serves up tasty eats like Mozzarella Risotto Balls, Pork Belly Nuggets, Asian BBQ sandwich, Falafel tacos, and many other unique dishes.

New to Broadway at the Beach, American Tap House is quickly making a name for itself as a fine American Gastropub. In addition to chef-crafted dishes such as the Roasted Herb Pork sandwich, the Manhattan Burger (burger topped with thinly sliced beef pastrami, homemade slaw, and Thousand Island Dressing on the side), Filet Medallions, Chicken and Waffles,  and Shrimp & Grits. On tap, American Tap House boasts 40 local and regional craft taps to cater to all beer enthusiasts.

Bully’s Pub serves up more than 32 different beers on tap and even more from the bottle. It is frequented by beer snobs and casual consumers alike. It’s a great place to take a break from a day of shopping at Barefoot Resort and enjoy a cold one inside the wood bar or on the back deck overlooking the lake. Bully’s also features excellent happy-hour specials on beer from 4 to 7 p.m. daily, featuring $2 domestics and $3 imports.

Located next door to famous sandwich-shop Dagwood’s, Bumstead’s brings in a strong local contingent looking to wash down the world’s problems. Bumstead’s offers more than 150 different beers, 14 of them on tap. Regulars can take part in Bumstead’s Beer Around the World” club in which patrons can try a consume long checklist of beers to qualify for prizes. It’s one of those clubs that’s fun even if you fail to qualify for it.

Gordon Biersch capitalized on the microbrewery/restaurant fad years ago and has become somewhat a macrobrew with locations across the country and a brewing headquarters in California. But it became a national chain for a reason; the range of German beers made in America are popular because they are good, from the Hefeweizen, Maibock and Czech Style Pilsner to its seasonal SummerBrau, WinterBock and FestBier for the fall.

Handley’s is designed as a true English pub, and as such offers more than 70 beers from all over the world. But the most popular picks are from among its 14 beers on tap, including the standards plus hard-to-find Abita’s Purple Haze and Magic Hat #9 and Howl. Handley’s also specializes in some refreshing brew mixes, like a Black & Tan (Guiness and Bass), Half & Half (Guiness and Harp) and Shakebite (Harp with Woodchuck Cider).

Liberty brings back the tradition of handcrafted beers by brewing their own batches in-house. The unique blends include Liberty Lager, Unfiltered Wheat, Rockets Red Ale, Nut Brown Ale and other homemade concoctions that feature a fresh taste that can only be found at a brewery. Liberty also offers a wide variety of brand brews in a bottle, but you’ll want to try the good stuff pouring from the large vats.

As one of the top spots for live music and entertainment in the area, its no surprise that The Boathouse has quite the selection of draft beers. Locals and vacationers hang out at The Boathouse for fun events like Free Show Friday and the Sunday Concert Series. Cool shows and awesome beers aren’t the only things bringing people to this spot; The Boathouse’s menu features a long list of tasty items like the Avocado & Chicken Egg Rolls, Chicken Bog Balls, Open Faced Meatloaf Sandwich, Duck BLT, baskets, steaks, seafood, burgers, and much more!
