Even as summertime draws to a close, the city of Myrtle Beach continues to shine! Local organizations, vendors and surrounding communities offer a variety of events to provide year round entertainment for everyone. No matter the season, there is always something new and exciting to experience in Myrtle Beach, SC. Let’s take a look at several events offered in the month of September 2012.

Month Long Events

Visit the Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Boardwalk for the Hot Summer Nights Series. Take a long stroll down the boardwalk, shop for unique items in a variety of shops, dine in one of many restaurants or grab dessert by the beach. This month long event features a variety of entertainment, live music and more! This event is free for the entire family.

Throughout the entire month of September, Brookgreen Gardens is hosting the National Sculpture Society’s 79th Annual Awards Exhibition. This display features artists and sculptures from across the United States. Vote for your favorite works of art and enjoy the rest of the day strolling through Brookgreen’s beautiful gardens. This event is free with paid park admission.

Prepare to attend the Myrtle Beach Greek Festival hosted by St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church. Enjoy Greek food, music, entertainment, dancing, vendors, and more. This exciting event promises fun for the entire family! Open to the public from 11am -9pm.

For the Art Enthusiast, The Pawley’s Island Festival of Music and Art is hosting a Wearable Art Luncheon at Tommy Bahama Restaurant in Market Commons from 11:00am-1:30pm. Luncheon events include a fashion show featuring the latest trends and handmade jewelry in a wearable art presentation by local vendors. Shop for scarves, hats and accessories as you dine with friends. The luncheon also features a silent auction.  Tickets for this event are $30.00. 50% of the proceeds benefit the Kathy Metts Visual Arts Scholarship. The Market Common presents Oktoberfest in Valor Park! Oktoberfest begins September 28th from 4pm-9pm.  Enjoy German beer, German music, inflatables, face painting, games for children, and more.

The Myrtle Beach Greek Festival hosted by St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church continues. Sample Greek food, music, entertainment, dancing, vendors, and more! All ages are welcome. Open to the public from 11am -10pm.

September 29, 2012

The 9th Irish Italian Festival will be held from 10 am-4 pm on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach today. The event features food from local restaurants that will compete for the best entree, best decorated booth and best dessert. They'll have a wide variety of vendors and activities including a lego contest and spaghetti eating competition. Admission is free.

Oktoberfest in Valor Park at Market Commons continues from 11am-7pm. This event is open to the public and all ages are welcome! Enjoy German food, music, vendors and games for children.

Visit Hard Rock Café at Broadway at the Beach and enjoy live music on the patio featuring Tripod. Music begins at 8pm weather permitting. Patio is open to the public.

September 30, 2012

This is your last chance to visit Oktoberfest in Valor Park at Market Commons from 12pm – 5pm! This event is open to the public and all ages are welcome. Try German food, enjoy German music, adults sample German beer, and for children there are games, inflatables, face painting and more!

This is the final day of the Myrtle Beach Greek Festival hosted by St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church. Enjoy Greek food, shopping and music. Open to the public from 12pm -7pm.

The World of Dance is presented by The Long Bay Symphony. Musical selections include Stravinsky’s ballet, folk dance ensemble alumni presentations, ballroom dancing, classic waltzes and more. This event begins at 4:00pm at the Myrtle Beach High School Music and Arts Center. Visit www.longbaysymphony.com for additional information.
