River Street Sweets® first began in 1973 in Savannah, Georgia. The story began when Tim Strickland was at the Atlanta Gift Market trade show with his family. They were shopping to find items for their gift shop in Savannah on the historic River Street when Tim stumbled across a fudge pot for sale and begged his parents to buy it. They finally agreed to purchase it for their gift shop, and a week later, Tim’s sister Jennifer made a batch of mint fudge for St. Patrick’s Day, and it sold out. This made the family realize that a candy shop would do a lot better than a gift shop, so they made the switch!
