About River Street Sweets
River Street Sweets first began in 1973 in Savannah, Georgia. The story began when Tim Strickland was at the Atlanta Gift Market trade show with his family. They were shopping to find items for their gift shop in Savannah on the historic River Street when Tim stumbled across a fudge pot for sale and begged his parents to buy it. They finally agreed to purchase it for their gift shop, and a week later, Tim’s sister Jennifer made a batch of mint fudge for St. Patrick’s Day, and it sold out. This made the family realize that a candy shop would do a lot better than a gift shop, so they made the switch!
Jennifer and Tim still run River Street Sweets to this day, and their most popular treats are their World Famous Pralines. The pralines are hand-dipped onto a piece of marble and currently generate more than $30 million in annual sales. These World Famous Pralines are truly spectacular, and if you’ve never tried one before, you need to!
While the Pralines are River Street Sweet’s most known item, they also sell saltwater taffy, Bear Claws, glazed pecans, crunchy, hand-stretched peanut brittle, and homemade pecan pies! Guests always enjoy watching the candy makers dip pralines onto giant marble slabs; stir glazed pecans in huge copper kettles, and see the 100-year-old saltwater taffy machine in action.
There are now River Street Sweets locations all across the United States. River Street Sweets of North Myrtle Beach is located in Barefoot Landing and is open daily! There are so many amazing candies to try, and River Street Sweets is the perfect place to fix your sweet tooth!
