Myrtle Beach Fall & Winter Camping Guide

If you love camping, then you’ve probably seen our list of campgrounds in Myrtle Beach. And while all the campgrounds have great amenities, such as oceanfront pools and easy access to the ocean, which are great for the spring and summer, these same campgrounds are also wonderful for fall & winter vacations to Myrtle Beach.

From temperate fall & winter to weather, to on-site activities and more, here is our guide to fall & winter camping in Myrtle Beach:




Compared to most other states, the weather in Myrtle Beach during the fall & winter months is pretty great. In fact, during part of the fall you will still find people going for a swim in the ocean!  Here are the average air and water temperatures for September – March:

 •September:  Air – 85º  Water – 77º

 •October: Air – 77º  Water – 72º

 •November: Air – 69º  Water – 60º

 •December: Air – 60º  Water – 50º

PirateLand Myrtle Beach

 Campers at PirateLand Myrtle Beach will enjoy 180 acres of oceanfront property with campsites and vacation rentals.  During any time of the year at PirateLand you can have a portable fire pit as long as it is at the minimum 6 feet above the ground and has a screen, chimney, or cover. Guets may only burn charcoal, starter logs, or duralogs. The campground also offers Winterizing Service for $75 for those who are storing their trailers.

Lakewood Campground

 Lakewood Campground is one of the top-rated campgrounds in the area, and this family-friendly camping resort is happy to have you this fall and winter. They offer great amenities such as full-site hookups, Internet, cable TV, propane refills, a full-service store, and much more. Accommodations include camping sites, RV sites, and villa rentals that range from one to four bedrooms.

 Lakewood also hosts worship services, fitness classics, activities, and fun events for the family. Those staying here can take advantage of the indoor pool while in town during the cooler months.

Myrtle Beach Travel Park Campground

This centrally located campground is a family-friendly and pet-friendly camping resort with sites that have full hookups, water & electric only, no hookups, pull-thrus, and deluxe patio sites. The pool at the Myrtle Beach KOA is open all year-round so guests can enjoy whenever they’d like. Other activities on-site include bike rentals, fishing, and more. Ocean Lakes Family Campground is the largest campground on the east coast, with 859 campsites and 2,562 annual lease sites spread over 310 acres right on the oceanfront. During the summer, this campground is hustling and bustling, but during the fall & summer, guests can enjoy quieter times and more space to themselves.

There are several accommodation types to choose from at Ocean Lakes. Tents and RVs are welcome on all-inclusive campsites, which include amenities like water, sewer, electric, cable, Wi-Fi, daily trash pickup, and a picnic table. The campground is also home to beach house and trailer rentals for those who don’t have a camper.

 Guests can rent bikes or golf carts, play golf, go to worship services, play mini-golf, go to the arcade, and much more in the off-season. There is also an activities calendar, and snow birds can enjoy the following things to do:
