About South Strand Recreation Center

South Strand Recreation Center amenities include a full size gymnasium for basketball and sports leagues, a fitness room for exercise classes, a multipurpose room that includes a divider for multiple events, locker room, kitchen and a rock climbing wall. The surrounding complex includes three multi-purpose fields, three baseball/softball diamonds, a sand volleyball court and a nature path encompassing the entire facility. 

South Strand also many youth sports camps, including volleyball, basketball, football and cheerleading.

    I know where your amazing facility is located. I have just returned to Myrtle Beach from Sarasota where I coached a Championship u9 Soccer Team I am looking for Part-time employment. I have; BS PE and Health University of Tampa, Fl. MS Recreation and Leadership Southern CT State university 12 years as a Recreation Director in Wilton CT 52 years Coaching Youth Soccer, Basketball, Baseball and Tennis.   • Great center.

    South Strand is a great rec center. The parking lot is often filled to capacity with soccer games or softball in one of the 3 fields. The walkway around the center has been upgraded with signage, distance, local information, and after being repaved, the walking service is much improved. Be aware that walking with thin soles, flip flops, crocs, etc can hurt with the gravel from the surfacing. There are benches to rest, pet waste stations with bags (usually), and it is always recently mowed, trimmed, and very well kept. Lots of people walk their dogs around the center. i always feel safe there, even though it is at the end of a road. Having the police station next door helps. Everyone very helpful and polite. Facilities are well maintained and friendly to use.
