About Oscar’s Food & Spirits

Visitors and transplants from the Steel City swear there’s a time portal at Oscar’s front door that magically transports them back to Pittsburgh. Oscar’s, which is owned and operated by native Pittsburghers, is a sports bar, restaurant and locals hangout all rolled into one, but on fall Sundays it becomes the home of wayward Steelers fans. In fact, the bar was painted black and gold by regulars after the Steelers’ last Super Bowl victory.

Oscar’s Food

Oscar’s is best known as a sandwich shop with sports-bar food, but the regular menu is surprisingly strong, as well. A wide range of burgers and sandwiches, like the piled-high corned beef Rueben and the “we do it better than Philly” cheesesteak. True to its Pittsburgh roots, there’s a Primanti Brothers-style monster sub filled with French fries, and the chicken wings are among the best on the Grand Strand. Daily specials include Flounder Friday, and there are several surf and turf entrees available for dinner. The bar is open to 2 a.m. and a nice after-dinner crowd hangs out for the pride of Pennsylvania’s Yeungling drafts and cocktails. The kitchen also stays open late with a limited menu of appetizers.

Oscar’s Atmosphere

Oscar’s isn’t going to be featured in Southern Homes magazine anytime soon, but a sports bar isn’t supposed to be charming. Traditional wood fixtures and Pittsburgh sports memorabilia are the extent of the motif, but the people make the place. Rub elbows with locals, visitors and snowbirds who forgot their way back to Pittsburgh and come to Oscar’s to cure the homesick blues. You are sure to make friends and have fun at Oscar’s.
