Think you’ve got what it takes to complete a food challenge? These restaurants in Myrtle Beach are making you work hard to earn a spot on their walls of fame. Here’s a look at some of the crazy food challenges around the beach.

Pop Pop’s Pit BBQ is located off of Highway 707 in Myrtle Beach. This BBQ joint offers the Fat Guy Burger Challenge, featuring their Legend Burger (1/4 lb burger patty, 1/4 lb pulled pork, cheese, 4 slices of bacon, onion rings, jalapenos, mac & cheese, hot sauce, and BBQ sauce). Participants in the challenge must eat four Legend Burgers as well as a large order of fries in 20 minutes or less. The challenge costs $50, but winners receive $200 in cash as well as a t-shirt and a spot on the Wall of Fame. 

Gordo's Tacos & Tequila

Test your bravery at Gordo’s Tacos & Tequila by taking on the Wall of Flames challenge. Eat three of the “spiciest tacos in the world” with your choice of chicken or pork in two minutes, and win the $15 meal for free! Plus, winners will also get a $20 giftcard to Bondfire restaurants as well as their picture on the Wall of Flames!

Gordo’s also offers the 5lb Burrito Challenge! The burrito is filled with tons of delicious items and topped with veggies and sauces. The challenge costs $35 and participants must finish the burrito in 30 minutes. The prize is the free burrito, a $40 gift card, and a spot on the Wall of Fame.

Up to three people can take the Big One Challenge at Fox’s Den Pizza in Socastee. The Big One is a 30-inch round pizza cut into 52 squares- yep, that’s almost five square feet of pie! One to three people are given 45 minutes to eat the entire pizza. Each winner will get a $10 gift certificate, a t-shirt that says I conquered the BIG ONE” and a picture on their Wall of Fame. Losers beware, there’s also a Wall of Shame if you can’t finish.

The Big A” Challenge at Hwy 55 locations involves 55 ounces of burger meat on a bun with at least four toppings, a side of French fries and a 24 ounce soft drink. Finish this bad boy in less than 30 minutes and your meal is on the house. You’ll also get your name listed on their website.

The Peaches Challenge features five pounds of food that participants try to finish in 20 minutes or less. The food includes one Peaches Double-Stacker burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo; one foot-long hotdog with mustard, chili, onions and slaw; one large order of chili cheese fries and one extra thick peach milkshake. The meal is $20 which is paid before you begin. If you complete the challenge you get your money back plus a photo on the wall and on their Facebook page and a special t-shirt.

If you visit Croissants Bistro & Bakery, be aware that this challenge is not offered every day. Every July 4th, Croissants hosts a cupcake eating contest to celebrate our nation’s independence. This contest takes place during a Fourth of July party featuring live entertainment, games, and more. The challenge itself is very simple; participants (must be 18 or older) must eat as many cupcakes as they can within the 5 minute time constraint. The winner will receive over $1,000 in prizes, including $500 in cash.

Though this is technically not a challenge,” the Double Dog Dare ‘Ya! burger platters at River City Cafe are tough to conquer. Choose between the Kitchen Sink” Burger Platter and the OMG” Burger Platter. The Kitchen Sink” contains two patties stacked with Texas chili, hickory smoked bacon, grilled onions, jalapenos, mushrooms, Swiss and cheddar, lettuce, tomato, pickles, mustard and mayo, stuffed between two grilled cheeses, served with a pile of fries, two giant fried onion rings and slaw. On the other hand, the OMG” consists of two patties topped with hickory smoked bacon, Swiss and cheddar, lots of mayo, lettuce, tomato and fried onion strings, stuffed between two fried egg & cheese sandwiches, served with a pile of fries, two giant fried onion rings and slaw. Good luck to whoever tries to devour one of these!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for an ice cream challenge! O.D. Pavilion Ice Cream Shop is known for their Waterdog Challenge, which must be completed within 5 minutes. The challenge consists of participants eating 7 scoops of ice cream with 5 toppings and a waffle plate. Don’t plan on coming here with a full stomac and beware of BRAIN FREEZE!
