Description
About K & W Cafeteria

Since 1937, this home-style cafeteria has been serving up made-from-scratch Southern classics in the Carolinas and Virginias. Whether you’re in the mood for a meat-and-three Blue Plate, one of their Signature Entrées, or a combination of your choosing, K & W is the place to go for a hot meal.

K & W Cafeteria Food

Each day, over 100 items are offered on the cafeteria line, beginning with a sort of salad bar where guests can choose from fruit, carrot and raisin, tossed, Jello, potato, pasta, and more. From there, it’s straight into the entrée selection. Daily selections typically include fried or baked chicken, fried or broiled fish, chopped steak, turkey and dressing, baked spaghetti, roast beef, country-style steak, crab cakes, baked ham, chicken pan pie, pork loin, and various other main courses that rotate throughout the week. Side dishes cover a variety vegetables and starches like baked beans, macaroni and cheese, turnip greens, fried okra, cabbage, cole slaw, mashed potatoes & gravy, creamed corn, yam soufflé, green beans, white rice & gravy, and many others depending on the day. Next, choose from one of their homemade breads, like biscuits, cornbread, garlic knots, soft rolls, and Mexican cornbread (with jalapenos). And finally, pick out something sweet from options like banana pudding, seasonal fruit cobbler, flaky pies, or rich cakes.

K & W Cafeteria Atmosphere

During certain hours (lunch, late afternoon), the average diner qualifies for a senior citizen discount, which makes for a quiet, respectful atmosphere. But families and groups of all ages also know that this is a good place to enjoy a relatively-inexpensive, home-cooked meal in a cafeteria setting, where the options are wide enough to accommodate almost all tastes. The seat-yourself dining area is full of booths both small and large, and tables that can usually hold four to six people. But if you’re party is larger, just ask one of the friendly attendants to help you set something up.
