This national chain is relatively new on the Grand Strand but has immediately struck a chord with locals and visitors who want more in a sandwich. Bringing the New Jersey deli philosophy – sandwiches stacked to the ceiling with meat, cheese and veggies – to the Deep South has been a big hit with natives and transplants.
Jersey Mike’s Food
Hot and cold subs make up the majority of the menu, and the meats are sliced before your eyes. Each sandwich given a number for easy ordering: The No. 2 Jersey Shore Favorite (ham, cappacuolo axnd provolone) and the No. 9 Supreme Club (roast beef, turkey, bacon and Swiss) are top cold choices, while the No. 20 Grilled Pastrami Reuben (pastrami, kraut, Swiss and thousand island dressing) and No. 56 Big Kahuna Cheese Steak (grilled sirloin, onions, peppers, jalapenos and provolone) are hot favorites. Jersey Mike’s also has a healthier line of wraps, such as the Chicken Caeser and Baja Chicken, and any sub can be ordered as a salad, or as they call it, “sub in a tub.” Cookies, chips and soft drinks are also available.
Jersey Mike’s Atmosphere
Great effort has been made to make each Jersey Mike’s outlet feel like a local deli. Guests order at the counter from a large menu board and workers quickly transform your number order into a fresh sub. The walls are decorated with maps of the Garden State, and tables are tucked in tightly for overlapping conversations – just like back in Jersey.
