About Hook & Barrel

This spinoff of one of Myrtle Beach’s most renowned restaurants brings a fresh approach to seafood to the Grand Strand. Opened in 2017 by the owners of Croissants Bistro & Bakery, Hook & Barrel brings that same attention to quality to a market flooded with crab shacks and all-you-can-eat buffets. Hook & Barrel adds an air of elegance to the local seafood scene with an emphasis on fresh local ingredients and creative cuisine.

Hook & Barrel Food

All good fishermen know that seafood is seasonal, and so does Hook & Barrel. Although the Dunes Club area restaurant features a few mainstays you can get year-round, the menu changes every three months to reflect the best times to get the freshest ingredients. Each season highlights a diverse “fresh catch” lineup, as well as a Steam Galley that serves up shrimp, oysters, crab legs, lobster, clams and more. The summer menu, for example, includes popular dishes like the Smoked Shrimp or Fried Flounder with Grits, Pan-Seared Scallops, Honey Soy Glazed Salmon and the mind-blowing Seafood Tower stacked with all your favorites from the sea. Unlike many seafood restaurants, Hook & Barrel also goes the extra mile on its “landfood” dishes, including the Filet Mignon, Roasted Chicken Breast, pasta dishes and vegetarian options. The impressive lineup of salads (H&B House), soups (She Crab) and sides (Crab Mac & Cheese) could make a meal on their own, and the kids’ menu covers all the bases for young taste buds. Hook & Barrel also serves an array of seasonal microbrews and wines to wash down your fresh catch.

Hook & Barrel Atmosphere

Unlike many of the cartoon-themed seafood restaurants on the Grand Strand, Hook & Barrel exudes authenticity. Hardwood floors and sea-blue walls reflect the nautical theme without beating patrons over the head, and the ambiance ranges from casual in the bar area to upscale in the dining room. Open for dinner only, Hook & Barrel’s exclusive Dunes Club neighborhood setting offers a nice start to a night out on the town. Be sure to stop by the adjoining Croissants Bakery for dessert to go.
