This stilted beach house-style building is home to some of the best burgers and prices on the Strand. Off the beaten path across Kings Highway from Barefoot Landing, Hamburger Joe’s is a popular gathering spot for locals and tourists – primarily for the cheap food and beer. The small back porch overlooks a salt marsh if you can get a table.

Hamburger Joe’s Food

As the name implied, burgers are what Hamburger Joe’s does best. These aren’t your pre-fabricated, previously frozen patties you get most places. Joe’s has fresh, hand-patted ground beef cooked on a flat-top grill under a cover to melt the cheese and steam in the flavor. All the usual toppings are avilable, including some not-so-common chili for a sloppy but tasty burger. The wings are also famous, and the Golden Wing sauce is flavorful and not too spicy. All kinds of sandwiches and bar-food appetizers are available, including the popular fried bologna sandwich. Wash it all down with dollar drafts all the time.

Hamburger Joe’s is friendly and family casual, with the close confines of the dining room lending itself to conversation between tables. An all hardwood interior, including the front and back porches, gives it relaxing feel and there’s usually a few regulars sitting at the bar willing to dish out some local tips.
