About Dead Dog Saloon
This legendary bar has a legendary tale of late Dudley the dog/ghost that haunts the place. He must have a good nose because this is the Dead Dog Saloon’s third location. Actually, the fourth counting recent events lent some credibility to the story. The Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk mainstay burned to the ground in 2011 but a brand-new, bigger and better Dead Dog emerged from the ashes and the old place is back to being the popular locals’ hangout it was before the fire.
Dead Dog’s Food
The Dead Dog has an extensive menu, but the boats tied up to the dock out back provide a good clue about what to order. Fresh seafood straight from the ocean to the kitchen means excellent shrimp, crab and fresh catch dishes. The Dead Dog is good about creating great nightly specials out of whatever was biting earlier in the day. The lunch lineup includes soups, salads, sandwiches and hand-patted burgers, sandwiches, like the famed po boys, blackened grouper and Philly steak. Dinner features steaks, ribs, chicken and, of course, more seafood. Try the Grouper Francaise, Blackened Salmon, Shrimp and Grits or Pan-Seared Scallops. The bar area also serves a long list of appetizers, including the tasty Boo Boo’s Tenderbites, featuring sliced tenderloin served on garlic toast with Parmesan mayo and Asiago cheese. The kids’ meal is sure to have something for even the pickiest-eating nipper, while the adults can enjoy frozen drinks, cold beer or wine from the full bar.
Dead Dog’s Atmosphere
The Murrells Inlet waterfront is one of the most laid-back places on the planet, and the Dead Dog is the perfect example. The deck features patio tables with great views of the inlet so patrons can watch the fishing fleets returning from a day at sea. Kick back in the hammock and listen to live music on the stage. The interior is just as informal and fun, a must-stop along the Marsh Walk.

Good food, great atmosphere! Exactly what we were looking for. Was expecting a 2 hour wait as quoted and waited less than 45 minutes.
