About Cafe Amalfi
Sometimes it’s nice to have a meal at a hotel, even if you’re not staying there. And this Hilton at Kingston Plantation restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a great view of the Atlantic.
Café Amalfi Food
For breakfast, the Amalfi Breakfast Bar (fruit, cereals, yogurt, fresh baked breads, hot dishes, coffee, tea, juices, and made-to-order eggs) and The Continental (like the Amalfi but with no hot dishes or eggs) are available in addition to a menu that includes Grains, Fruits, & Starters, Main Plates, and Sides. Because the first section is mostly self-explanatory, most of the menu’s highlights are found in the Main Plates section. Like the unique Vegetable Frittata, which is an egg-based dish with grilled onions, peppers, asparagus, oven-fired tomatoes, fine herbs, goat cheese, and green tomatillo salsa served with red bliss potatoes and toast; Red Velvet Pancakes with blueberry compote and cream cheese icing; Strawberry French Toast; and the Carolina Eggs (poached) with buttermilk biscuits, fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, and hollandaise sauce.
Lunch is divided up into two groups – Soups, Starters, Salads, & Pizzas, and Sandwiches & Entrees. The most appealing items from the first list are the Pretzel-Crusted Crab Cake with green tomato and sweet corn relish, spicy tomato sauce, and micro greens; Fresh Seafood Chowder with jack cheese and smoked bacon; the BBQ Ranch Salad with mixed greens, bacon, chicken, broccoli, carrots, and bbq ranch dressing; and the Seafood Pizza with crab, shrimp, spinach, and artichoke. The Sandwiches & Entrees menu includes originals like the Portobello Gorgonzola Turkey Burger with arugula and tomato on a brioche bun; the Pizza Omelet with plum tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepper, onion, and pepperoni; and the Crab & Brie Grilled Cheese with sautéed leeks and wild mushrooms on thick-cut bread.
Two lists make up the dinner menu – Starters, Soups, Salads, & Sandwiches, and Main Plates. The very creative first list includes highlights like Deviled Eggs & Smoked Salmon with cucumber onion salad and fried capers; a Shaved Beets Garden Salad with creamy goat cheese, bacon almond brittle, and lemon vinaigrette; and BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich with Granny Smith apple, bleu cheese slaw, and grilled Ciabatta. Main Plates options span pretty much all of the proteins – seafood, fresh water fish, fowl, beef – and several vegetarian pasta dishes. Highlights include the South Carolina Award-Winning Mahi-Mahi with corn maque choux, fennel onion salad, and spicy tomato sauce; a Flatiron Steak with bleu cheese potato skins and horseradish chimichurri; the Crispy Half Duck with truffle parmesan bread pudding, glazed baby carrots, and lingonberry duck jus; and the Whole Wheat Penne Primavera with carrots, red cabbage, sweet peppers, roasted tomato, zucchini, and yellow squash in a spicy tomato sauce.
Café Amalfi Atmosphere
This is fine dining but casual, which means that the setting is fancy but you don’t have to be, because after all it’s still Myrtle Beach. That said, feel free to make it as formal of a meal as you want. And whether you go for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, there are very few views better than the ocean while you’re eating.
