Your Guide to Myrtle Mile Race & Festival



The inaugural Myrtle Mile race is on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 6- 9 p.m. in downtown Myrtle Beach. This fast, unique race takes place along Ocean Boulevard where participants will enjoy views of iconic Myrtle Beach landmarks such as the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel, the Gay Dolphin Gift Cove, and more.

MyrtleBeach.com will donate $1 per race entry to local Hurricane Florence relief efforts here in Horry County. 

If you’ve registered for our race, here is some information you’ll need to know for the event on Saturday:

Race Info

The Myrtle Mile is brought to you by MyrtleBeach.com and Festival Promotions, and this race will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2018. Race registration will be available online until the start of each race. On-site registration is also available at the finish line, which is at 9th Ave N and Ocean Boulevard. Elite registration ends at 11:50 p.m. on November 1st. Elite runners registering after this date will not be eligible to win the World Record Bonus prize of $25,000.

Races

The Myrtle Mile is for everyone! The event will include the following races:

•Fun Run – this race is great for walkers, families, and kids who want to take part in the race but don’t want to compete. The Fun Run is perfect for those who like to go at their own pace.

•Kid’s Competitive: This race is for kids age 10-17 who want to compete to see who is the fastest!

•Dog Jog: Grab your best furry friend and make your way to the Myrtle Mile for the Dog Jog. Don’t have a dog? Bring any pet along with you! All runners must finish the course in 20 minutes or they will be removed from the course.

•Corporate: This is a great race for a teambuilding experience! Teams will consist of a minimum of 2 participants and a maximum of 10.

•Open Division: This race is for runners who can run a mile under 10 minutes.

•Competitive: This race is recommended for those who can run a sub 8-minute mile.

•Elite: This Elite race is for pro and elite runners who want to compete for prize money. Elite Males need to have a time of 4:10 or better, while Elite Females need to have a time of 4:45 or faster.

The prizes for the top Elite male and female runners are as follows:

•1st Place: $1250

•2nd Place: $700

•3rd Place: $300

$25,000 Bonus for Breaking 1-Mile World Record. Prize is eligible for Male and Female Elite Runners. All Elite Runners must be registered by November 1 to be eligible for the $25,000 Bonus. Runners eligible for all prize money must not be on Doping Sanctions list.

Course

Course

The Myrtle Mile race will begin on 24th Avenue North outside of the Boardwalk Resort. The race will be in the south bound lane until 12th Avenue North, and after 12th Avenue North runners will have the whole street. The race will end at 9th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard outside of Ripley’s Believe-it-or-Not. 

Packet Pickup

Packet pick up will begin 90 minutes prior to the start of your designated race time. Packet pick up is at the Finish Line area of 9th Ave N and Ocean Boulevard.

Parking

Participants and spectators will find plenty of parking on 24th Avenue North as well as side roads. There is also the Pavilion Parking Garage that offers paid parking. 

Festival

After the race, participants can enjoy a free family-friendly festival that will take place in the former Pavilion site at 9th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard. There will be food trucks, live entertainment, and tons of fun for all.

Live entertainment will be provided by the band CornBread.

Each runner will get one complimentary beer (if over 21) and will be sponsored by Sam Adams
