Myrtle Beach Weekly Events Rundown: August 7 – 13
This week features a bit of everything for everyone. If you’re looking for a calm morning or afternoon, you have options of farmers markets or you could catch a free live concert at The Boathouse or in Surfside Beach. You also have the opportunity to catch a beach luau near the Surfside Pier or signup the most colorful 5K and concert you’ll ever attend at the ColorBurst 5K. There’s also still plenty of summer festivals and nightly entertainment going on at Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Brookgreen Gardens.
Here’s what’s happening this week in Myrtle Beach:
Cool Summer Evenings
This week is the last Cool Summer Evenings of the summer, so if you’ve missed it before, now is the time to go! Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet guests can grab dinner at the Pavilion Restaurant, take evening boat rides and enjoy kid’s fun and activities until 9 p.m. At 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays, you can catch Music Under the Oaks on the Pavilion Lawn. And on Thursdays you can enjoy family and kids fun starting at 5 p.m. And don’t miss a Pirate Adventure, with expeditions only embarking on Thursday. Admission to Cool Summer Evenings is free with gardens admission. Boat rides and the Pirate Adventure is not included with the gardens admission.
Music on Main Concert Series
Music on Main Concert Series in North Myrtle Beach continues this week at at the Horseshoe with beach and variety band Midnight Allie. The Music on Main Concert Series is a fantastic opportunity to listen to some of the best local bands of the Grand Strand for free, surrounded by the downtown aura of North Myrtle Beach. There’s plenty of restaurants and activities that are next to the concert as well. Be sure to bring a beach chair and get their early to get the best spot!
The Market Common Farmers Market
Get a taste of local flair at the Market Common Farmers Market, featuring community artisans and farmers that provide some of the best produce, plants, flowers, crafts and goods that the Grand Strand offers. The Farmers Market takes place on Deville Street at the Market Common in Myrtle Beach on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Color Burst 5K
The Color Burst 5K isn’t your traditional running challenge. This 5K includes music and gallons of non-toxic, hypoallergenic, water-based, washable paint sprayed at runners as they run through the course. It’s like an active art piece, and YOU’RE the subject! There’s also a paint dance party before and after the race with extra paint being sprayed at participants. The race will be held at TicketReturn.com Field in Myrtle Beach, home of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, where all runners will receive a free game day ticket to the Pelicans vs. the Carolina Mudcats. This event is for all ages!
The Boathouse 2017 Summer Concert Series
Get ready for a free concert this Sunday at “the best backyard in town” at The Boathouse in Myrtle Beach! Columbia, SC based-southern rock band Atlas Road Crew will play on the main stage for The Boathouse 2017 Summer Concert Series. You’ll receive free admission to this awesome venue with a waterway view as well as sitting just outside the The Boathouse Waterway Bar & Grill which offers tons of great food and drinks.
Surfside Sunday Serenades
Surfside Sunday Serenades enlists some of the best local music acts to perform live at Passive Park in Surfside Beach. There’s no fee to be paid here either, as attendance is free! This week’s acts include Joe Moyer, Acoustic Johnny and Amanda Miele. The concert begins at 2 p.m. with each artist receiving an hour to perform. Just be sure to bring a chair or something to relax on during the show!
SummerFest! at Barefoot Landing
The live entertainment, music, games and activities continue this week at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach for Summerfest! Meet and greets with superheroes and princesses, face painting, balloon tying, stilt walkers, and live music is only the tip of the iceberg at this weekly summer festival. And all the fun is free! The fun starts at 7 p.m. seven-days-a-week.
Hot Summer Nights at Plyler Park on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk
If you’re in the heart of Myrtle Beach, then taking a trip to Plyler Park on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk for Hot Summer Nights is a must! Each night provides different entertainment opportunities, including Kids’ Carnival Night on Mondays starting at 7 p.m. and a DJ playing the best tunes on Thursday nights. There’s also fireworks on Wednesday nights! And this nightly entertainment is free for all to attend!
Summer Nights at Broadway at the Beach
The summer excitement at Broadway at the Beach continues with their Summer Nights series. For seven-days-a-week, you can catch all of the fun and excitement at Broadway at the Beach including America’s Got Talent alum Nick Pike on select nights, interactive music and dancing, character meet and greets and much more! The fun starts every night at 7 p.m. and is featured throughout Broadway at the Beach. The entertainment is also free! And don’t miss fireworks on select nights!
Legends In Concert
Legends In Concert brings your favorite performers and music artists to Myrtle Beach, including Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton and the Blues Brothers, with some of the best performers the Grand Strand has to offer. Until Aug. 19, you can catch Elvis, Parton, the Blues Brothers, Madonna and Steven Tyler throughout the week! Shows typically start at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets start at $39.95 for adults and $19.95 for children.
ONE: The Show
The Alabama Theatre’s ONE: The Show is beloved by both locals and visitors, and is a musical and theatrical experience you won’t want to miss. The features country, rock and pop hits performed by some of the best entertainers on the Grand Strand. The Alabama Theatre is located at Barefoot Landing in Myrtle Beach.
Tickets start at $39.95. Children’s prices are also available.
The Carolina Opry Show
Don’t miss out on the widely-popular variety show The Carolina Opry Show at the Calvin Gilmore Theater. The show is two hours of Broadway hits, pop songs and gospel performed by singers and dancers. The show is acclaimed by USA Today “A Big Hit” and named a “Top Attraction in Myrtle Beach” by CNBC.
Tickets start at $27.90 for adults and $10.70 for children.
