About 2021 Georgetown Wooden Boat Show
Help keep the spirit of Georgetown alive at the Wooden Boat Show.
Now in its 32nd year, the Georgetown Wooden Boat Show features a wooden boat exhibit with more than 100 classic wooden boats, a boat building competition, kids’ model boat-building and knot-tying, crafts, and so much more!
All proceeds from the Wooden Boat Show benefit the South Carolina Maritime Museum, which is located in Georgetown.
Admission is free.
The 2021 Schedule of Events is:
Oct. 15
6:30 to 9 p.m. | Goat Island Yacht Club Regatta | This event includes live and silent auctions as well as first-class food and drinks. Tickets are $85/person.
Oct. 16
11 a.m. to 6 p.m. | Wooden Boat Exhibit | Explore more than 100 wooden boats ranging from kayaks to yachts along the water and on Front Street. Maritime arts and crafts, models and educational exhibits will be on display throughout the day. An awards ceremony will be at 4 p.m.
Stop by the Beer Garden & Food Court, or check out one of Georgetown’s amazing local eateries for food throughout the day.
Noon to 5 p.m. | Wooden Boat Challenge
Test your boat building skills in the Wooden Boat Challenge. Teams of two will have four hours (noon to 4 p.m.) to build a rowing skiff and then test their vessel in a rowing relay at 5 p.m. on the Sampit River. Teams will be judged on their construction speed, quality of work, and rowing speed.
Oct. 17
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Wooden Boat Exhibit | Explore more than 100 wooden boats ranging from kayaks to yachts along the water and on Front Street. Maritime arts and crafts, models and educational exhibits will be on display throughout the day.
11 a.m. | Opti Pram Regatta | Young sailors will show off the skills they learned at the S.C. Maritime Museum’s Youth Sailing Program in races from the docks at Francis Marion Park.
11 a.m to 2:30 p.m. | Corrugated Boat Regatta | Participants will test their skills and ingenuity to design boats made only of corrugated cardboard. The only other construction materials allowed are tape, waterproofing and corrugated oars to propel your vessel. Preview of boats will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the regatta at 2:30.
