About Brookgreen Gardens presents: Haints, Haunts, and a Gothic Goodnight
Brookgreen Gardens presents their spooky event: Haints, Haunts, and a Gothic Goodnight this Halloween weekend!
Located on the Leonard Pavilion, this event serves up all of the ghostly tales and gothic folklore with a night under the stars. Enjoy a delicious Lowcountry buffet dinner followed by ghost tales from Gullah Geechee shared by Ron Daise and gothic fiction performed by horror icon and actor Bill Oberst Jr. With the perfect backdrop of moss-draped trees in the Brookgreen Gardens’ Arboretum and star-soaked skies overhead. The evening will begin with the buffet, all provided by Inlet Affairs.
Ron Daise, a famed Gullah Geechee storyteller, will be performing stories such as Taily-Po, Wiley and the Hairy Man, and Precious and the Boo-Hag leaving the audience simultaneously entertained and scared. Bill Oberst Jr will present a “Gothic Goodnight” and recite two Edgar Allan Poe classics, The Cask of Amontillado and The Raven, as well as W.W. Jacobs’ The Monkey’s Paw. His performance is based on his own podcast in which he performs bedtime stories of gothic short fiction.
Tickets begin at $50 for members and $55 for non-members. Tickets include admission and the buffet meal. A cash bar for wine and beer purchases will also be available. VIP tickets are also available for purchase as well, which includes admission, reserved seating on the Leonard Pavilion for the Lowcountry buffet meal, one glass of wine, and premier parking all for $100.
The dinner menu (included in the ticket price) offers She Crab soup, vegetable soup, steamed oysters, Frogmore stew, chicken bog, fettuccine vegetable primavera, coleslaw, bread rolls, banana pudding, fruit, iced tea, and water.
