Brookgreen Gardens Prepares for Nights of a Thousand Candles 2016

One of the most-anticipated events of the season, Brookgreen Gardens will stage this year’s lights and candles festival from 3-10 p.m. on December 1-3, 8-10, & 15-18, 2016.

With over five thousand hand-lit candles, and the sounds of carolers and bells filling the air, this annual affair is a great way to get in the holiday spirit while taking in the natural beauty of the historic property in a new way – by candlelight. And, each day at 5:45 p.m., a tree lighting ceremony will take place in which guests will watch as an 80-ft-tall fir tree will be illuminated by 70,000 beautiful lights.

This year, guests will be able to take in the beautiful sights of hand-blown glass sculptures of flowers and trees in Anne’s Garden, carefully crafted by Conway Glass.

As always a full entertainment lineup is planned in two tents at the gardens. Performers include the Thistledown Tinkers, Paul Grimshaw Band, Ron & Natalie Daise, bagpipers, Bill Oberst, TruSol, Vocal Edition and many others.

The kind staff at Brookgreen has several suggestions to help visitors get the most out of their experience – dress warmly, wear comfortable shoes, arrive early, carpool, and, if possible, attend on a Thursday.

Tickets for this year’s event are $18 for adults and $10 for children ages 4 to 12 and are available at Brookgreen.org, by calling 1-888-718-4253, or at the gardens. However, due to the high demand for tickets each year, Brookgreen Gardens is asking for patrons to purchase 2016 tickets in advance because only a limited amount of tickets will be sold each night at the gardens.

Here’s a little sneak preview of the event.
