About Beach Town Throw Down by Crossfit Up Dog
Show off your skills — or come and watch the best compete — at the Beach Town Throw Down CrossFit event in Myrtle Beach this spring.
CrossFit Up Dog will host more than 500 competitors May 6-7, 2023, at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach for the event.
With more than $25,000 to hand out in cash prizes, the Beach Town Throw Down is a premier CrossFit event mixing a great location with challenging events in a competitive environment.
The event features four divisions allowing for competitors of varying fitness levels.
Individual Competition:
May 6 & 7, 2023 – No more than 4 Qualifying WODs + 1 Floater. First Heat starts at 8am – For the Divisions that will have finals, the Top 5 from each division will compete in a Final WOD. Finals will be Sunday afternoon.
Team Competition:
May 6 & 7, 2023 – No more than 4 Qualifying WODs + 1 Floater. First Heat starts at 8am – For the Divisions that will have finals, the Top 5 from each division will compete in a Final WOD. Finals will be Sunday afternoon.
Competition Divisions
The standards outlined below should be considered a guide specifically to compete at The Beach Town Throw Down, Myrtle Beach. These are considered to be “working weights” and movements that can be performed for multiple reps. Changes may be made to skills and loads within reason.
Rx
Rx is the top division with winners receiving the largest cash pay-outs (over $15,000 in 2022). Movements that may be expected in this division include:
Deadlift – 275/185
Ground-to-overhead – 185/125
Overhead Squat – 135/95
Snatch – 135/95
Thruster – 135/95
KB Swing – 70/53
DB Snatch – 70/50
DB Thruster – 70/50
Box Jump – 30/24

Intermediate
Intermediate is the middle division. Winners in this division received over $6,000 in 2022. Competitors should be able to perform these movements/loads in a WOD – Movement guidelines include:
Deadlift – 225/155
Ground-to-overhead – 155/105
Overhead Squat – 95/65
Snatch – 95/65
Thruster – 95/65
KB Swing – 53/35
DB Snatch – 50/35
DB Thruster – 50/35
Box Jump – 24/20
Jump Rope – Double Unders
Chest-to-bar Pull-ups
Toes-to-bar
Wallball – 20/14
Handstand Push-ups
Rope Climb
Masters 35+
Masters 35+ – For the teams, the age minimum is 35 and the total team age must be a minimum of 150. Winners in this division received over $2,500 in 2022. While these movements may or may not be part of this year’s program, competitors should be able to perform these movements/loads in a WOD – Movement guidelines include:
