Many of the approximately 80 golf courses on the Grand Strand were built with men in mind, but more and more women have taken up the game during that time. Some courses have taken heed of the trend by making such renovations as a women’s locker room in the clubhouse and women’s items for sale in the pro shop. Other accommodations include restroom facilities on the course beyond the bushes and women’s tees that fit into the layout rather than haphazardly placed a few yards forward.

As one of the newest courses on the Strand, this layout was specifically designed to accommodate women. TheGrande Dunes Resort course offers two sets of rated tees for women since all golfers are not created equal. The clubhouse is women-friendly and also features the luxurious Hibiscus Spa for those who want to pamper themselves after a day on the links.
Meadowlands
Meadowlands on the North Strand just over the SC/NC border in Calabash is a favorite among women. It was designed with women in mind and consistently ranks in Golf For Women’s Top 100 Women-Friendly Courses.
Myrtle Beach National's SouthCreek
The SouthCreek course is one of the courses at Myrtle Beach National’s and it is considered the best fit for females. The layout is designed to reward finesse, not just long-ball hitters, and the fairways are fair to the fairer of the sexes. It is another course rated as one of the top 100 courses for women by Golf for Women magazine.
Sea Trail Plantation
Not only does Sea Trail offer a beautiful walk through the woods and wetlands, but the short layout is perfect for women who prefer to use brains over brawn to put the little white ball in the cup. At only 4,717 yards, this Willard Byrd design uses narrow fairways and strategically placed water hazards that allow women to go stroke for stroke with their male counterparts.
Willbrook Plantation
Located in charming Pawleys Island on the South Strand, Willbrook has been rated as high as No. 25 on “Golf for Women” magazine. Part of the ranking is based on the scenic beauty of the course, which was built among the wetlands and live oaks of the South Carolina Lowcountry. But another factor is its golf school that offers year-round instruction for women, the only local course that does so.
