Beachwood Golf Club Celebrates 50th Anniversary

North Myrtle Beach’s Beachwood Golf Club recently celebrated its 50th anniversary on July 18, 2018.

The 6,691-yard golf course was built in 1968 and was designed by Gene Hamm. It features an unchanged 18-hole layout, which is great for players of all skill-sets. The course is known as one of the best-conditioned golf courses along the Grand Strand as dedicated staff members maintain it each and every day.

Over 50 years, Beachwood Golf Club has hosted a variety of tournaments including the Carolinas PGA Championship and the Carolinas Open. The original partners of the club include: Carl Rust II, Dick Elliott, Blakeney Jackson Jr., Lloyd Bell, W. Jennings Livingston, John Jennrette Jr., Joseph B. Johnson, Mance Watkins, Jesse Fisher Jr., Herbert L. King, William A. Gore, Russell R. Burgess, Edward L. Williamson, Benton Walton III, Pete Townsend, Matt M. O’Shields and James Marvin Helms.

Though Beachwood held a special ceremony honoring the club’s founding partners back in July, the general manager, Kevin Lawson, stated that the golf club may be holding a 50th anniversary customer appreciation day either in August or September, 2018.
