What’s New for 2017? Myrtle Beach Attractions, Restaurants & Events
2016 was a huge year for changes in Myrtle Beach, and 2017 is no different. In addition to continuing development at Broadway at the Beach, the Myrtle Beach area is welcoming new attractions, restaurants, and events to the Grand Strand for 2017. Check out this list of new things that have opened or will open later this season. Here’s what’s new in Myrtle Beach for 2017:
Changes at Broadway at the Beach

Broadway at the Beach made a bunch of changes last year, and the development will continue throughout 2017. Since the Hard Rock Café pyramid was torn down and the restaurant moved into another location in Celebrity Square, construction has started on the new Dave & Busters. Also, Carlos’n Charlies was torn down to make room for a new Paula Deen restaurant. More changes may be coming, too, so stay tuned.
The Track Recreation Center
The Track Recreation Center is finally open for business for the 2017 season after being constructed in 2016. This new family-friendly attraction boasts multi-level go-kart tracks of different experience levels so that kids and adults can have fun. Also, The Track features an arcade with tons of modern and classic games.
Pirate Ship Adventure

There are tons of fun things to do at the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, and now visitors can have a fun pirate-themed experience with Pirate Ship Adventures! This family-friendly attraction allows kids and adults to go on a swashbuckling adventure on a pirate ship cruise through the Inlet. Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite pirate outfit for a full-on experience.
Cooper House Dinner Theatre
6011 Dick Pond Road, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 29588
The Cooper House is now under new ownership, and that means big changes for 2017. This popular special events center, known mostly for weddings, will be hosting Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre as well as other live entertainment each month. Enjoy special events at this eclectic venue while indulging in delicious food made by a professional chef.
Ocean 16 Hilton Hotel
Oceanfront Myrtle Beach will be welcoming a new hotel sometime in the near future. The new high rise hotel will be Ocean 16 Hilton Hotel, and demolition has already begun for the property at the corner of 16th Avenue North16 and Ocean Boulevard. The 550,000 square-foot hotel will have 26 floors, 330 rooms, and tons of amenities such as a lounge, deli, fitness center, pools, and more.
Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach will both soon be home to ALDI grocery stores. ALDI is a national chain that offers products at reasonable prices. As of now, there hasn’t been an announcement about specific locations or opening dates.
Developers Take Interest in South Side of Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Beach is seeing a lot of changes with new attractions, restaurants, and more, and now developers are aiming to give the south side of oceanfront Myrtle Beach a facelift. Plans have been proposed to build new duplexes, a high-rise hotel, a Walmart, and more, around 14th avenue south.
Get ready for a cool new restaurant coming to downtown Myrtle Beach! RipTydz is an oceanfront grille & rooftop bar that is aimed to attract millenials. The new eatery is set to open in February 2017, and the main appeal here will be the hip rooftop bar as well as the gorgeous ocean views.
Hickory Tavern is a North Carolina-based restaurant that recently opened a location in North Myrtle Beach. This sports pub offers a casual atmosphere as well as delicious pub food such as burgers, seafood, sandwiches, and more. There is no doubt that this is going to be a new hot spot for sports fans in the area!
Carolina Ale House
A new restaurant called Carolina Ale House will be opening sometime this year. The eatery will be built across the street from Broadway at the Beach where Planet Hollywood once stood. Carolina Ale House is a family-friendly restaurant known for delicious pub food as well as a large variety of beers for the adults. The restaurant will boast a rooftop bar, HD TVs and sports memorabilia throughout the establishment.
Locals and visitors can now enjoy Panera Bread in Myrtle Beach! Panera opened their first location in Surfside Beach in late 2016, so now fans of the restaurant can enjoy soups, salads, sandwiches, and more while visiting the Grand Strand.
While Captain D’s is not a new restaurant to Myrtle Beach entirely, the fast food chain recently opened up a new location in Surfside Beach. Captain D’s serves up tasty grilled and fried seafood at low prices.
MOD Pizza opened its first Grand Strand location in North Myrtle Beach last year, and Myrtle Beach recently welcomed the chain to the Surfside Beach area. MOD Pizza offers made-to-order pizzas with a huge selection of fresh toppings. From personal pizzas to sharable sizes, MOD Pizza is great for the whole family!
Hole-in-One Contest Coming to Select Grand Strand Courses
EagleWatchGolf is hosting a new hole-in-one contest at a select group of golf courses along the Grand Strand in 2017. The contest will allow pariticipating golfers to play one shot for $5 or $10, and players will have a chance to win more and more money depending on how close to the hole their shot lands. The current jackpot is set to begin at $5,0000 a week, and if multiple golfers make a hole-in-one each week, then they must split the prize. If no golfers make a hole-in-one, then the prize amount gets bigger the next week
