New Things in Myrtle Beach for 2019
The Grand Strand is always changing, and that’s what we love about it! Year after year, new things are added to the Myrtle Beach area to keep locals busy and vacationers coming back for more. 2019 is no stranger to new things in Myrtle Beach, so we decided to make a list to keep you in the loop of what has opened and what is coming to Myrtle Beach this year:
Jack Axe Throwing
Jack Axe Throwing is a new axe-throwing attraction that has opened in North Myrtle Beach in 2019. A second location will open in Surfside in the near future. This unique attraction allows guests to be trained by a staff member who will show each participant how to master throwing an axe. This attraction is for anyone 12 and older. An adult must accompany those under the age of 18.
Orange Theory recently opened a new gym in Myrtle Beach! The fitness center is located off of 79th Avenue North near Publix. Orange Theory is focused on guided workouts provided by professional trainers. These workouts are perfect for any fitness level!
Residence Inn by Marriott
Those looking for long-term stays in Myrtle beach will feel right at home at the new oceanfront Residence Inn by Marriott. The new hotel is located off of Ocean Boulevard and 27th Avenue South and features all suites with full kitchens, an office, and spacious living areas.
Perhaps the biggest thing that opened in Myrtle Beach this year is Topgolf! Located right across the street from Broadway at the Beach, this popular attraction is a cool place for golfers and non-golfers alike. Test your swing in a driving-range like setting that has different games to choose from while enjoying some delicious eats and refreshing beverages!
While LuLu’s at Barefoot Landing opened in 2018, the new arcade and ropes course opened in early 2019! This family-friendly restaurant and attraction boasts Waterway views, live music, and even a beach” where you can soak up the sun while the kiddos go off and play.
The Sneaky Beagle
The Sneaky Beagle is a new restaurant that opened in the Carolina Forest area in 2019 in the former Longbeard’s location. This dog-friendly restaurant has an awesome outdoor area where guests can bring their furry friend along for treat. The menu features sandwiches, salads, tacos, and more for the human visitors while the restaurant also has a menu for dogs, too!
Michael's Pizza Pasta & Grill
The renowned Michael’s Pizza in downtown Myrtle Beach opened a second location in Carolina Forest at the end of 2018. Now, those living in or visiting the Carolina Forest area can enjoy fresh pizza pies and other Italian fare from Michael’s Pizza Pasta & Grill near Publix.
Sure, there’s already a Wicked Tuna restaurant on the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, but did you know that they are opening a second location right on the ocean. The restaurant will be located on the top two floors of the three-story 2nd Avenue Pier, allowing Myrtle Beach residents and visitors to easily access their delicious cuisine without having to drive all the way to Murrells Inlet.
Mrs. Penn's Soulfood
Located near Taco Bell in downtown Myrtle Beach, Mrs. Penn’s Soulfood is an understated restaurant that has re-opened to serve up delicious soulfood to the Myrtle Beach area! The menu here features favorites like the smothered pork chop dinner, fried fish, grilled fish, fried chicken, chicken wings, pork chop sandwiches, and more!
A new sushi restaurant is coming to Pawleys Island! Yagi Sushi and Hibachi will be situated at the former Indo Thai location and is expected to open this spring. As the name suggests, the restaurant will serve a variety of sushi, hibachi, and other Asian-inspired cuisine.
Island Dog Shoppe
Located near Restaurant Row, the Island Dog Shoppe is a new, adorable dog boutique. This dog-friendly store offers all kinds of stuff for Fido, including treats, toys, supplies, and more! They also offer items for cats.
This new men’s specialty shop features motorcycles, outdoors, and camping all in one. They will be opening their second location in the Magnolia Row shopping center off of 44th Avenue North and Kings Highway this spring.
Total Wine is a new beer, wine, and liquor superstore that is opening on April 11 near Walmart on Seaboard St. The store will carry up to 8,000 wines, 3,000 spirits, and 2,500 beers!
