About Swing for the Cure for ALS Myrtle Beach Charity Golf Tournament

The disease ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. ALS is a 100% fatal neurodegenerative disease in which a person’s brain loses connection with the muscles resulting in the loss of their ability to walk, talk, eat, and eventually breathe. ALS strikes approximately 30,000 Americans and the average lifespan for someone with ALS is 2-5 years from diagnosis! There is no treatment or cure. The illness strikes our veterans, of which I am one with 25 years of service, at twice the rate as those who did not serve.

A group of us are organizing a charity golf tournament, to be held April 27, 2025, with all proceeds to benefit the South Carolina ALS Association chapter (https://www.als.org/south-carolina). Funds donated to the chapter will go toward helping persons living with ALS by providing financial assistance, needed medical equipment, research and various support activities.
