The Asher Theatre is Myrtle Beach’s newest venue to the entertainment scene. We’re an upscale theatre that brings Vegas and New York city acts to the Grand Strand in a family-oriented, hip, cultural, and exciting theatre setting.

Our feature act is none other than the widely-acclaimed impressionist, comedian, and musician – James Stephens III. Stephens’ feature show, The Man of A Thousand Voices” is the ultimate family show – his talent reminds us of the days of Sinatra, Martin, and Davis and Lewis. His spot-on impressions of Bernie Mac, Bill Cosby, Chris Rock, Elvis, Michael Jackson, Bill Clinton, and Ronald Reagan are second to none. Whether doing a singing impression of Nat King Cole or a rap impression of Little Wayne, James is the ultimate performer. He’s been called one of the funniest comedians of our times by the editor of Time magazine. Not only a regular headliner on all the major cruise lines, but he has also graced the halls of Carnegie Hall and the Grand Ole Opry. He’s performed around the world. He was the first African-American entertainer to perform in Amsterdam and in London at Lewisham as well as the Hackney Theater. He’s headlined in Scotland, made appearances on London’s BBC and performed at the prestigious Edinborough Festival.

In the US Stephens has starred on several TV shows and done standup appearances on ABC, NBC, CBS as well as Comedy Central, HBO, Showtime, and MTV.

He’s worked with Jennifer Aniston, Will Ferrell, Steve Carrell, Chris Rock, Garth Brooks, Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Joe Rogan, George Lopez, Jerry Seinfeld, and others. His quick wit and Improv skills make every show different. One moment he’s Kermit the frog and another Kevin Hart. His impression of Snoop Dog doing country and western is absolutely hilarious. If that’s not enough, he sits at the piano and plays classical music and in a split-second, he’s doing impressions of Pharrell, Bruno Mars, and John Legend and Lionel Ritchie. James’ cross-over appeal transcends all races, gender, ethnicity or creed. Stephens’ tailors each show to his specific audience so everyone leaves entertained.

Just saw James Stephens III & the Stylistics, for the New Year's Eve celebration. It was outstanding. James put on a wonderful comedy show( too funny) & the Stylistics sounded just as I remember them, so talented! Wonderful. Great show to see.

A real gem of a theater!

It’s like a hidden cool little club in Myrtle Beach. We saw the Motown show and it was FANTASTIC! There were performers doing Marvin Gaye & Tammy Tyrell and the Temptations (in the photos) as well as Aretha Franklin, the Four Tops, Prince, Ike & Tina Turner, Barry White, Rick James, and many others. The young woman who did the Queen of Soul was an outstanding singer, as were all if the others. Folks spontaneously got up and danced to some of the tunes. We also saw the Ray Charles/Sam Cooke tribute shows which was also a superb show, and a good time. The theater is set up like one of those vintage clubs in NYC, with seating at little candlelit tables, nicely spaced- no packed tables! There’s a snack bar in the lobby selling glasses of wine, beer and soft drinks as well as popcorn and candy. We absolutely love this little gem of a theater!

The show was entertaining with the audience singing and dancing in the aisle. The performers were very talented and the atmosphere was friendly and comfortable.

Gem in Myrtle Beach

We’ve been to the Asher Theatre for 4 different shows and they have been excellent. The talent they bring in is top rate. One of the things we love is that the size of the theatre allows for audience participation and we get to meet the cast after the show. Thanks James Stephens for bringing the best to the beach!!

Murder at the Cotten Club

My sister and I attended the Mystery show on May 13 2022. The show was entertaining with the cast greating us as we entered the venue and mingled among the crowd as they performed. The meal was adequate and filling. The show was filled with the skit, amazing singing, and comedy. I highly recommend this show.

First Rate Quality Shows

At Myrtle Beach week of 11/14-11/22/21, with intentions of really going out but relaxing. Decided to do one show, Murder at the CottonClub, on a Thursday night. Encouraged to go to the Fright night show, The Man of a Thousand Voices, and then included the Saturday night show, Motown 59. Mr. James Stephens was in all three shows and the energy he displays is enough to make you want to come back again and again. All performances were fun and entertaining. Would recommend that you take the time to go and see for yourself and support their efforts. You will get your money's worth and help with some proceeds that go to local scholarships, which is truly a plus.

Motown 59 The Ultimate Show and Dinner

The music was fantastic and the host, my husband and I, well I can’t remember the last time we laughed so much. I would recommend anyone in the Myrtle Beach area to go and see the show. I don’t think you could see a better show on Broadway!!!!

Motown 59 and Infinity Song

Every time I go to Asher Theater I enjoy all the entertainment, so when my family and friends visit me from out of town I take them to the show it’s the best in Myrtle beach. Infinity song was there this weekend I treated my girlfriend we got to see the Motown 59 show also , she said it was awesome especially James Stephen jokes then she bought a ticket to see him on Friday.

Asher Theater…Otis Redding and Whitney Houston tributes.

What a Great time we had last night at the Asher Theater. Upon entering we were greeted by smiling faces ( I’m sure there were smiles under the masks ). Universal precautions were maintained with social distancing. Once inside, an array of beverages and snacks were available. James Stephens III opened the show, non stop laughs and talent. Both Otis Redding and Whitney Houston portrayals were amazing. It felt like they were actually on the stage. Once again James Stephens III came on stage and closed the show with more laughs, singing, playing piano...he surely is the Man of a Thousand Voices. If you are in town or are local, I highly recommend the Asher Theter. You won’t be disappointed.

Murder Mystery Dinner Review

The show was entertaining enough. My kids ages 8 and 10 thought it was ok. The actors were nice and went around before show to say hello. I was a bit disappointed the only dinner option was chicken with throw away silverware. Other than that I'd recommend trying it out.
