Restaurants at The Market Common: A Culinary Tour

This centrally-located eatery serves contemporary American-Italian for lunch and dinner. The menu features starters like an Antipasto Platter, Prince Edward Island Mussels, Scallops, and Calamari. After that, there’s plenty of different Pastas, Pizzas, Salads, Sandwiches (during lunch), Italian Classics including five different chicken preparations (Piccata, Parmesan, Marsala, Scaloppine, and Saltimboca). The House Favorites include Lasagna Bolognese, Eggplant Parmesan, and Sinatra Chicken, a grilled breast with smoked pancetta, mozzarella, and a Gran Marnier cream sauce, served over cappellini.

This is the place to go for a West Coast twist on the classic Mediterranean baked dough. They have plenty of city-inspired specialty pizzas (San Diego, San Francisco, Hollywood), but the thing to do here is build your own. The sauce and ingredient list is all over the map and includes fresh vegetables and fruits, and most of the meats you can imagine. And, just like California, the vibe is pretty casual, dude.

Serving the thin and delicate pancakes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this quaint café specializes in both sweet and savory crepes. There are plenty of French-inspired options to choose from, like the Champignons et Fromage (Portabello mushrooms and Brie cheese with wild mushroom and sage oil) and the Parisiene (Brie, apple slices, almonds, and black cherry balsamic), but the menu riffs on specialties from non-French cuisines including Italian, Mexican, Greek, and even American. They also offer gluten-free and buckwheat crepes.

Two different experiences are available in this upscale eatery. In the bar area, a menu of small plates like Pork Belly, Calamari, Veal and Truffle Ravioli, and a Spanish Caprese Salad lets diners sample several different dishes in a classy environment. Over in the main dining room the menu is much more serious in terms of cuisine, with Prime steaks cooked in their 1800-degree broiler, Veal Porterhouse, Colorado Lamb, and Lemon Sole Provencal all available nightly. Fine dining or fun tapas? That’s completely up to you.

It’s true that CO (feast” in Vietnamese) is predominantly a sushi restaurant,but in addition to traditional nigiri and sashimi, they offer some items that you won’t be able to find anywhere else in Myrtle Beach. Take the Pressed Sushi, made with layers of Maze Gohan rice, fresh fish or tofu, or the unique Maki rolls like Duck and Hoisin or Round Eye (of beef) with Wasabi Aioli. CO also offers a small-ish menu of noodle dishes including Pho (a savory and delicious rice noodle and beef broth soup), Pad Thai, Vietnamese Ramen, Curry Laksa, and Hanoi Noodles. Also, the vibe here is much more cosmopolitan than beach casual.

They pile the chips high here before layering them with all sorts of combinations of cheeses, veggies, sauces, and meats. House favorites include the Hipponachamus, with chili, chorizo sausage, shredded chicken, cheese blend, jalapenos, pico de gallo, and lettuce, and The Donald, topped with Maine lobster meat, shrimp, spicy mayo, mango salsa, cheese blend, jalapenos, shredded lettuce, and pico de gallo. You can also choose from a long list of ingredients to make your own unique creation. But if you’re not in the mood for a huge plate of chips, there are plenty of other options on the menu. The In The Beginning list includes Bangin’ Shrimp (fried, tossed in red pepper sauce), Holee Guacamole (fresh avocado, tomatoes, onions, cilantro), and Grilled Corn on the Cob. Other menu sections include Rita’s Quesadillas, and Hip Tacos, of which there are fourteen unique options that are all over the map. Oh, and it’s probably worth mentioning that this place has margaritas for days.

This will be the obvious choice for the craft beer crowd, as GB serves five of it’s own brews. They also have a gargantuan menu full of pretty much everything – Starters (dips, fries, wings, etc.), Pizzas and Flatbreads, Fresh Greens, Chef’s Favorites (Steak, Fish, Meatloaf), Housemade Tacos, Entrees (Lobster & Shrimp Mac and Cheese, Fish and Chips, Jambalaya, Mediterranean Chicken), Knife & Fork Burgers, Sandwiches, and Housemade Desserts. For seating, the patio out front is usually a good indicator of how nice the weather is.

If there’s a sporting event on tv, it’s likely that you’ll be able to watch it here. It’s also likely that you’ll be able to find your favorite bar food on their huge menu of appetizers, burgers, wings, sandwiches, and entrees. Aside from the obvious offerings, King Street serves dishes like Sweet Tea Fried Chicken, a Mac & Cheese Burger, and Philly Cheese Steak Egg Rolls with Horsey Sauce. The place can get pretty packed and, depending on the game, might get a bit loud as well. Luckily, there’s plenty of outdoor seating if you need to escape the noise for a moment.
