10 Best Myrtle Beach Restaurants & Bars to Watch Football
Even though another great summer season is winding down, the fall is just around the corner which means Myrtle Beach restaurants and bars are gearing up for football season.
As a town full of transplants from the Northeast and all over the world, Myrtle Beach attracts fans from different teams with followings for a variety of college and NFL teams.
In addition to support for the "hometown" teams — the Carolina Panthers and NCAA's Coastal Carolina Chanticleers — you'll find plenty of folks supporting teams including USC, Clemson and Ohio State on Saturday and The Ravens, Redskins and Steelers on Sundays.
In order to help you find a great place to watch a game and find some like-minded folks to root with, we've created a list of the best Myrtle Beach restaurants and place to watch a game. For even more great suggestions check out our "Best Sports Bars" page in the 102 Things To Do Guide.
Located in the Carolina Forest area, Beef's is technically a chain, but offers a hometown feel and a great, family-friendly environment for watching a game. With wall-to-wall TV screens and large crowds cheering for the home team, Beefs is a great place to catch college or pro pigskin in action and enjoy some of the best bar food on the planet. And with appetizers ranging from the ribs and chicken fingers combo, steak nachos, potato skins and chicken wings, as well as $2 pints of Natty Light and plenty of great craft brews, you can get your grub without missing any of the action.
With more large projection screens than anywhere else on the beach, this cavernous Broadway at the Beach bar is the perfect spot to catch pretty much any game. On Saturdays and Sunday throughout the fall you'll find it filled with fans — including an especially large contingent of West Virginia University backers. There's also food specials, pitchers of beer and drinks of all kinds. And if that waasn't enough the OTHER half of the bar is an enormous arcade filled with every type of game you can imagine.
Fans of this popular sports bar chain know what they're getting here. In fact it's right in their slogan "Wings. Beer. Sports." There are few that do it better than these guys. There are two locations in Myrtle Beach, including in Carolina Forest near U.S. 501 and Carolina Forest Boulevard and in North Myrtle Beach at the Gator Hole shopping center off of U.S. 17.
Adjoining the locally-famous sandwich shop Dagwood's, is Bumstead's a classic sports pub with excellent food to match. Grab a sandwich with both hands because it's stacked to the ceiling and wash it down with a wide range of domestics and imports. Big screen TVs carry all the big games, and each booth features their own TVs for those looking for a more intimate game experience. One word of warning to Dallas Cowboys fans – this is a Washington Redskins hangout so you might want to sneak out early if the Cowpokes are choking.
One of the newer sports bar-style restaurants in town, this Broadway at the Beach eatery has everything a sports fan could want. Tons of TVs, a great selection of beers and an awesome menu full of finger foods, burgers and more. With a huge scoreboard-style screen in the center of the bar and plenty of room to sit, it's a perfect place to catch a game and it caters to fans of all types with decor that includes wall space devoted to several teams including Duke, UNC, NC State, Clemson, South Carolina and plenty of others.
This English pub is THE place in Myrtle Beach for fans of the other football — a.k.a. soccer — but also serves as a perfectly good spot to catch the American version of the game. Located in Carolina Forest, it's well away from the hustle and bustle of tourist traffic and there's plenty to like including 28 plasma-screen TVs and more than 100 beers available. But the pub is also famous for its grub, including appetizers such as the Beer-Battered Pickles and Brit Chips and main dishes like the monstrous Meatloaf Sandwich and Fish and Chips.
With locations at The Market Common and on the south end in Murrells Inlet, King Street is a convenient choice for many visitors. The Myrtle Beach location serves as one of the main hubs for Steeler fans on the beach, playing home to the local Black & Gold club. Featuring a large bar area that's literally wall-to-wall sports — it's covered in a huge mural of a football stadium — it's a great place to catch a game or just enjoy a meal with the family (they've got great sandwiches and salads). The south end location is enormous with inside and outside bars, a huge dining room . Not only a great place to catch a view of the game, but also amazing views of the Murrells Inlet salt marsh.
For Pittsburgh Steelers fans on the Grand Strand, this hangout is the next best thing to a trip to Heinz Field. In fact, patrons even painted the bar black and gold following the Steelers' last Super Bowl victory. Transplants and visitors from the Steel City flock to this North Myrtle Beach restaurant and bar to catch the game and experience the camaraderie they normally only get back in Pittsburgh, but fans of all teams are welcome. Cold beer and hot food, like the half-pound, hand-batted burgers that are char-grilled to perfection and melt in your mouth upon impact, are the only things that keep this crowd quiet, aside from a Steelers' loss.
Probably the best pure sports bar on the Grand Strand, Overtime really goes all out to provide a great experience for fans. Everyday is game day at this place. It's filled with more sports memorabilia than you could possibily count, there's an enormous wall of TVs which make up one big screen and huge scoreboard that hangs over the bar. You'll also find a large dining room with two levels of seating, a game room with billards and plenty of arcade classics and a menu full of sports-themed items like Mile High Nachos. All sports fans are welcome here, but you'll find plenty of folks supporting Ohio teams here including the Buckeyes, Browns and Bengals.
For those not acuainted with this southern chain restaurant, think of it like Buffalo Wild Wings on steroids. Everything's bigger, brighter and better here from the size of the wings to the variety of sauces to the huge, well-lit dining room of the Barefoot Landing Location. With indoor and outdoor seating along the lake, this place has a great atmosphere and some of the best food on the beach. Whether it's huge sampler platters of tasty wings, great chicken sandwiches and burgers or amazing appetizers, they've got it all. Football is a big draw here, with the North Myrtle Beach Browns Backers gathering here each Sunday — not to mention plenty of other NFL fans of all allegiances. When it comes to college, one of the owners is a Marshall alum (you'll find a tribute to the fallen 1970 team in the entryway) and you'll also find plenty of USC, Clemson and Ohio State fans lurking around as well.
