Cook-Out is Southern backyard-style grilling at its finest and fastest. Open from 11 a.m. until several hours after midnight every day of the week, this North Carolina-based franchise has quickly earned a solid word-of-mouth reputation around the Grand Strand.

The main attraction here is the Cook-Out Tray, which is a mix-and-match combination special. Choose from a quarter-pound hamburger, barbecue sandwich, foot-long hot dog, regular, spicy, Cajun, or bbq chicken sandwich, or chicken strips. Then choose two sides from a list that includes quesadillas, corndogs, fries, cole slaw, chicken nuggets, and onion rings, and then pick a drink. The total price of the Tray comes to about $5, unless you add a Fancy Milkshake (dozens and dozens of flavors) for a dollar extra.

Aside from the Tray, there are plenty of other options on the menu. The Cook-Out Style burger is the basic “Carolina” setup – chili, onions, slaw, and mustard, while the Steak Style is topped with A1 sauce, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Ranch, Cajun, and Honey Mustard Style Wraps are also available.

Cook-Out Atmosphere

The double drive-thru lanes are fast and efficient, but can also be disconcerting for the uninitiated. In that case, indoor and outdoor seating is available.
