We asked for our fans’ favorite BBQ restaurants in our inaugural Beachie awards, and we found that “barbecue” means different things to different folks. We decided to break up the BBQ category into BBQ (such as ribs) and Carolina BBQ (like pulled pork topped with your BBQ sauce of choice).

This popular eatery serves up a variety of steaks and seafood, and it was also our fans’ top pick for barbecue. The famous Roadhouse ribs are prepared with a charred exterior and fall right off the bone. Choose from a single or double rack of Danish Baby Back ribs; a slow roasted BBQ reef; or the house special prime rib. BBQ beef and chicken sandwiches are also available.
Sticky Fingers Smokehouse
In the world of barbecue, Sticky Fingers has a little something for everyone. Sticky Fingers offers ribs, wings and BBQ in a variety of delicious combinations. Choose from pulled pork or ribs — or a combo of the two — and top it with your choice of five sauces. Lunch specials, burgers and salads are also available as are several Southern-style desserts.
Damon's Oceanfront Bar & Grill
With the URL ribsribsribs.com, Damon’s gives visitors a pretty good idea of what they’re all about. Ribs come in original BBQ and spicy BBQ and are served in half or full racks. You can also pair ribs with Damon’s BBQ chicken breast. Steaks, sandwiches, salads and burgers are also options.
Sweet Carolina’s BBQ
Located at Broadway at the Beach, Sweet Carolina’s serves up pulled-pork BBQ, ribs and chicken along with Lowcountry seafood favorites. The Southern theme is reflected in the ambiance with a spacious front porch perfect for people watching while enjoying the smells of hickory-smoked meats.
Dickey’s Barbecue Pit
With locations throughout the U.S., Dickey’s serves up pit-smoked meats with homestyle sides. Choose from pulled pork, beef brisket, BBQ honey ham, Spicy cheddar sausage, pork ribs, chicken or turkey and pair them with mac & cheese, baked potato casserole, baked beans or a number of other choices. Sandwiches, salads and stuffed baked potatoes are also available.
Little Pigs BBQ
Locals rave that Little Pigs has the best BBQ in town — and they are talking about the pulled-pork variety. Served with or without a bun, Little Pigs’ BBQ comes with a choice of two sides and either a mustard, vinegar or tomato-based sauce. For a hungry crowd, Little Pigs offers bulk takeout and family packs. Other menu items include burgers, grilled cheese and chicken fingers.
Hog Heaven BBQ
Hog Heaven is located just south of Pawleys Island and serves a daily buffet loaded with down-home cooking and pulled-pork BBQ. They also serve a full menu, including ribs, sandwiches, seafood and chicken. Catering and takeout are also available.
With locations in Surfside Beach, North Myrtle Beach and Oak Island, N.C., Bar-B-Que house gets good reviews from lovers of all things Que. House plates include a choice of ribs, wings, and chopped pork BBQ. The wraps and chimmies — stuffed with BBQ, slaw, cheese and sauce — offer a unique twist. Get them warm or fried.
