Lucky’s Pizza

This Main Street, North Myrtle Beach pizzeria tosses, bakes, and delivers pies and more until at least 2 a.m. every night of the week. Lucky’s starts with hand-pressed dough, rubs on some of their housemade sauce, and then sprinkles a generous amount of mozzarella and provolone to create what is quickly becoming a local’s favorite.

To start with the obvious, Lucky’s pizzas are available in four sizes – Personal 10’, Medium 12’, Large 14’, and X-Large 16’. The toppings offered for creating your own are pretty standard meats and veggies, but the combinations get interesting on the Specialty Pizza menu. Take the Shamrock Supreme, a concoction that includes pepperoni, ham, sausage, bacon, ground beef, onions, mushrooms, green peppers, black olives, roma tomatoes, a mozzarella and provolone blend, and a dusting of parmesan. Yes, that’s five meats, five veggies, and three cheeses, and if you (one person) can finish the 16-inch version in less than twenty minutes, you win the Lucky’s Supreme Challenge and all of the fame and fortune that comes with it – your picture on the wall, a free pizza, and a t-shirt. For those more interested in just having a good dinner, other Specialty Pizzas include the Buffalo Chicken (bleu cheese or ranch dressing, chopped celery, light onion); the White (garlic, feta, tomatoes, onions); and the Double Cheeseburger (ground beef, bacon, mushroom, onion, and double cheese). Aside from pizza, Lucky’s menu also features Subs, Salads, Calzones, Wings, and Sides. All subs are served with a bag of chips and a bagel and can be ordered in 6’ or 12’ sizes. Standouts include the Lucky (ham, roast beef, turkey, provolone, lucky sauce, banana peppers, tomatoes, lettuce), and the Gobbler (turkey, bacon, swiss, lucky sauce, banana peppers, tomatoes, lettuce). Those in the mood for something lighter can choose from the self-explanatory Salad menu, which includes Garden, Caesar, Greek, Spinach, Chef, Italian, and Cobb. Calzones are up to the eater, and the topping options are the same as with pizzas. And Lucky’s also serves Wings, available by the dozen in Hot, Mild, BBQ, or Louisiana.

Lucky’s is located in a strip mall and has the standard walk-up counter with a good view of where the food is being made. Various “lucky” things are painted onto the windows – shamrocks, the Notre Dame mascot – and the tables are draped with red-and-white plaid tablecloths.
