About Drunken Jack’s Restaurant

This Murrells Inlet institution has one of the best back stories on the Strand. Just off the patio deck sits Drunken Jack Island, named for a pirate who was marooned there with nothing but a stash of rum. His bleached bones were found years later, with rum empty bottle strewn around his body and a smile on his face. More than 400 years later, the Nance family has been putting the same smile on customers’ faces, only with a happier ending.

Drunken Jack’s Food

Drunken Jack’s operates a fleet of fishing boats that sail exclusively for the restaurant, so the quality and freshness of the seafood is top notch. Fried seafood platters are the biggest hit at Drunken Jack’s, with generous servings of Calabash-style shrimp, oysters, fish and scallops piled high on a plate alongside fries, slaw and melt-in-your-mouth hushpuppies. The Grouper Royale, topped with mushrooms, crab meat, asparagus and béarnaise sauce, and the Steak Neptune, filet medallions topped with a creamy lobster sauce, are among the house favorites. Great steaks and chicken allow guests a variety of surf-and-turf options. Be sure to try Drunken Jack’s Rum Punch or another concoction from the full bar.

Drunken Jack’s Atmosphere

Festive and light for a fine seafood restaurant, Drunken Jack’s offers a laid-back atmosphere that is family casual. The dining room features a nautical décor, and the back patio deck is a nice place to enjoy dinner and drinks while looking out over the inlet. Despite the name, kids get the royal treatment at Drunken Jack’s.
