I stayed at the Avista for two nights for a conference that was happening at the hotel. The good: -the staff in the hotel (particularly the front desk) went above and beyond by being extremely attentive and friendly. They should definitely be commended; -my ocean view room was basically a ocean front room as it was located at the corner of the building I had a clear, 90 degree view of the ocean. I guess technically the room was located off the beach parking lot below, but I enjoyed it in any case. The room was quite spacious and had everything you might need for an extended stay at the beach. I really enjoyed it in general; -I think an update of the room décor is definitely in order. Most resort hotels are going to white duvets not only for cleanliness purposes but also because it provides a modern feel. Just because the resort is located at the beach doesn't mean tropical décor is needed. The bed mattress was not very comfortable either. It was very firm but also sagging in some places. The sofa in the living area could have used an update as well. The fabric was quite dated and faded. Both TVs were older, tube TVs. I would think that flat screens would be in order; Now for the bad: -During our visit, there was a large group (50+) of graduating college seniors staying in the hotel. They were often vulgar in the elevators and the majority of the girls felt the need to prance around the hotel in tiny bikinis. I know it's the beach, but have some modesty ladies! I know that some of my colleagues complained of the noise at night in the hallways outside of their rooms. Fortunately for me, I did not encounter this issue. I think it would have made more sense to have isolated the students to one area/multiple floors of the hotel. It appeared that this was attempted, but I do know that some of my colleagues got placed on these floors. People attending a conference shouldn't have to deal with rowdy kids. -I wouldn't pay for the breakfast buffet. Luckily, it was included in our conference registreation. While the service was excellent, the food was average at best. The biscuits were the frozen, heat up kind and you could really tell. The sausage gravy was too salty. The French toast was rubbery as were the pancakes. The eggs were obviously the powdered kind. You could buy breakfast at one of the many pancake houses within a short 5 minute drive for the same price, maybe even less, and the food would be better. Overall, I would give the Avista a second chance if the price was right. It was convenient to other parts of North Myrtle Beach and has a good location on the beach. I would suggest that anyone planning a trip check with the hotel to make sure that there are not any large groups of students or guests who might be a bit on the rowdy side staying there at the same time that you book.

We have been coming over from England for a two week golfing visit to the Grand Strand for nearly 20 years. For the last six years we have stayed at the Avista Resort because the do what they promise. The condo's are just fine and have been redecorated over the years. The kitchen and laundry facilities are very clean and work well. The resort staff are very friendly and although they keep in the background they are there if needed. A special thank to Director of Golf - Chris Vest - and his staff. They fixed all my rounds of golf very efficiently and at competitive prices. For us they organize great golf holidays but I suspect it would be just as good for a family holiday. Would I come back - definitely. Would I recommend the resort - absolutely.

We were at the Avista Resort for the first week of May. Our room was clean, with a very nice view, the service was very nice. The staff was caring and the people who came to do the cleaning daily took care of everything. I will certainly go back there. The location is close to quite a few restaurants, the inside and outside spa, pool and lazy river are nice. Because of the cold weather, we mainly enjoyed the spa outside and the inside pool, lazy river and spa. Its nice to be able to go out on the beach to walk.

I've spent time at this resort many times. Each time was rewarding. The staff and facility are outstanding. Rooms are clean and large and all face the ocean providing the soothing sound of the ocean and a nice view of sunsets and sunrises. The pools are always clean and the poolside service is wonderful. For those who like to enjoy a cool drink while spending time in the sun there is a bar at poolside. We ate at the on site restaurant many times enjoying the fine foods from the menu. Every time we've been there the Chief came out to speak with us and inquire how we enjoyed his preparations. We'll go back and I recommend you do too.

This resort was very nice and provide great value for your dollar while being a little removed from the typical Myrtle beach noise & craziness. Having a kitchen and washing facilties right in the room is extemely handy plus they have an indoor pool & lazy river to enjoy on those poor weather days. The staff was also very accomodating and met all our needs quickly and with a smile on their faces.
