Offering a beautiful combination of natural areas, native foliage and constantly shifting fairways, Tiger's Eye Golf Course is a must-play course just north of the state border in North Carolina. With 18 unforgettable signature holes, Tiger's Eye was rated No. 3 on the Grand Strand in Golf Digest's “America's 100 Greatest Courses.”
Modeled after Pinehurst, the undulating Penn G2 bent grass greens at Tiger’s Eye are fast-paced and resemble the look of warped plywood. The greens also feature pins that are guarded by obstacles or obscured from view. There are also many elevation changes which are reminiscent of the sandhills in North Carolina.
The natural beauty of this course is a great reminder to golfers of their location in the South Carolina Lowcountry. With mature long-leaf pine groves and forest lining the fairways, golfers can test their skills at challenging holes all while being immersed in the breathtaking surrounding.
While all golfers are invited to play at this public, daily fee course, Tiger’s Eye is definitely a course for thinkers. With all of the obstacles and elevation changes throughout Tiger’s Eye, thinking is key to making precision shots and a short game.
Tim Cate’s layout featuring wide fairways, waste bunkers, and bentgrass greens has been praised and has landed Tiger’s Eye a ranking as one of “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses.”
