Description

About Pearl West

As one of the top links-style courses on the Grand Strand, the Pearl West Course offers a fair challenge matched with tremendous untouched natural beauty. In 2004, The West Course was awarded a 4.5 star rating by Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play.” The courses greens were recently updated with brand new bentgrass in 2013. The Pearl West Course offers a dramatic final four finishing holes that stretch along the bluffs and provide a splendid view of the Calabash River and surrounding marsh. It has been host to many major tournaments thanks to the meticulous maintenance and its tendency to test golfer’s abilities. This is a course that you will certainly want to play over again.

"The course was in very nice shape, but the greens had a lot of bad spots. Really took away from the round."

"The greens were fantastic. By far the best greens we played on the entire week. Unfortunately the tee boxes were mostly terrible. Several had only sand, not any grass. The fairways were ok, not great. The guy in the pro shop, was extremely helpful and very nice. The attendants didn't give us any information about the course, just sent our group off to play. "

"Another North Carolina course with hard greens. If the courses don't make the greens more receptive, I can see the tourists going elsewhere. Although hard greens need less maintenance, they're not condusive to getting much repeat business."

"Wide open fairways, enough trouble to make it fun, generally well kept. The greens were not in the best shape this year, but still a nice course to start our week off. "

"Play here almost every year on summer beach vacation. Always a good experience. Prefer the West Course, but played them both this year."

"It was cold at tee time (39 degrees), but we were able to get out of the wind on ##3. Traditional Carolina course, with pine tree-lined fairways and doglegs. A couple of interesting holes, but otherwise pretty straight forward. The greens on the West were pretty nice--cut, rolled and rolling true. Although nice, not a premium MB course...pretty average in comparison. The grill was okay with mediocre service. Good course to start your golf trip to get warmed up for other more difficult courses."
