Description

About Myrtlewood Pinehills

The PineHills course is the first and only design along the Grand Strand by award-winning architect Arthur Hills. It was formerly known as The Pines, but renamed PineHills in 1993, when Hills redesigned it. PineHills is a modern masterpiece of beautifully contoured fairways and generous bent grass greens. The PineHills course is routed along the same path as it's predecessor, but Hills' skillful use of mounding and strategically placed water hazards gave the course a completely different feel. Golf Digest called PineHills one of the 'Top Ten' layouts in Myrtle Beach and it's easy to see why.

"Course in great shape after Hurricane Matthew. Lots of trees down and some wet area's. Would definitely return to play here. GREAT COURSE."

"My favorite course to play at Myrtle Beach. The right level of difficulty for me, great staff, and the course is very will maintained. Looking forward to playing there again."

"Arthur Hill-design similar to Dunes West Course in Charleston, SC area. Lots of risk/reward holes - sand traps running continuously along one side of bending fairway - so decision is distance vs clearing sand trap. Well maintained, lovely design, and lots of sand traps protecting greens. No houses along all golf holes so one feels in a natural environment. This is a fine course at a good value. Heavy overnight rains made course wet so ball did not carry and zero-run, so played longer."

"Lost 5 balls that barely went off the fairway. Stepped on one of my balls that was 6" off the fairway but couldn't see it. Very frustrating."

"I enjoyed the course. Some slow play ahead of me was a little annoying, the group in front was not too interested in letting a single play through. Not sure why, but a little help from someone would have been good. "

"The greens were about the worst I have ever played at myrtle beach. I have played a lot better courses at that price point in myrtle beach. I will not play there again. "

"The greens were some of the worst I have seen in years. It was ridiculous how bad they were. Who aerates in late June? Not only were they filled with holes, but the holes didn't have sand in them in most places and the rest of the grass on them were burnt up. Basically putting on dirt filled with holes... I have played here a few times (Myrtlewood) but this was not a good experience. "

"Greens were recently aerified so they got a lower rating. Did not use the grill. Would have appreciated seeing beverage cart more than twice over 18 holes considering the quarter round (?) was not open. Nice course, hope to play again. "

"We had an early tee time and were let out to play on time. This course had a full schedule but we had a 31/2 hour round as a threesome and we never waited. Excellent managed course ! Great finishing hole. We will return. Thank you. "

"Greens had a lot of unfixed ball marks on them, other than that the course was in excellent shape. The Ranger was a little rude. He told us we were playing too slow when we were actually on a 4 hour pace of play. We finished the round in 4.5 hours and that was with a 45 minute rain delay! Also, beverage cart only showed up once after the 2nd hole...and this was after giving her a generous tip and telling her to keep coming by. All in all, not a bad course, but I wont be going back. Too many other courses in Myrtle Beach to put up with a miserable old Ranger who thinks a 4 hour round is playing too slowly."
