Description

About MB National King’s North

Arnold Palmer returned in 1996 to redesign this already popular layout and the impressive list of accolades for this course just keeps growing for Myrtle Beach National's Kings North course, which ranks in America's Top 10. Also hailed as one of the Top 100 Courses For Women and named South Carolina's 1997 Course Of The Year, Kings North has four holes featured in The 100 Greatest Holes Along The Grand Strand. Famous for the island green and South Carolina shaped sand traps of Hole 3; the tempting short cut on the island fairway of Hole 6; and the over 40 sand traps guarding the fairway on Hole 18, it is easy to see why this has been the most recognized and requested course on the beach for over 25 years.

Kings North is considered to be one of the most beautiful yet challenging courses along the Grand Strand.  This 18 hole course features tough holes like the par-5 6th that is nicknamed “the Gambler” which contains an island fairway that offers a “risk-reward” path to the green. Then, there’s the island green par-3 12th which is quite tough as well. This hole demands precision because if you go too far left you are met with bunkers, and if you go too far right, then you risk landing in water.

The course ends with the par-4 18th which features 40 bunkers, making the last of your golf round fun yet demanding of focus. If you don’t think about your drive here, then you may find yourself making a bunker shot.

"There had been a tremendous amount of rain over the last week. That being said the course was still playable, with cart path only. As always the course looked wonderful consisting the weather challenge it had been facing. Greens putted well but were weather demanded slow. The only shock was the cart/bag attendant at the beginning of the round was terrible, this was the first time I've ever experienced amphibious like this, at this course which is why i gave that portion a poor review. Overall, it was a great day to play a course the day "The King" himself went to the clubhouse in the sky. "

"This was my first time golfing a course like Kings North. To put it into perspective I've never been anywhere that they had a starter and people who load and unload your bags. The place is very well kept. Although I marked parts of the course with good conditions the playing area were only fair but this is only because the course was freshly aerated. Other than holes and sand everywhere from this aeration process everything was fantastic. The staff notified me a day ahead of time about course conditions and I was happy to continue my play at Kings North. Practically had the course to myself so that was nice. I was fully aware of course conditions ahead of time and proceeded to play but typically you can tell this course is in amazing condition. I cleared "The Gambler" on my first shot but not the 2nd to the green. I am yet another this hole got the best of. It was nice to golf such a well known hole with a great layout. Whoever chose the pin position on this hole that day has cruel humor for a 31 handicap but I had a great time with the challenge. Unfortunately the rain was a major factor in cutting the remainder of our visit short. I will gladly and look forward to my return to tackle the 18th that got away. "

"I loved the layout of the holes. However, I wasn't very fond of the hard bunkers that carts drive in and we hit out of. Didn't see the bev cart the entire back 9 which was very disappointing for the group."
