4650 Heather Glen Way, Little River, South Carolina 29566 • 888-999-9520
Heather Glen offers the links-style golf of the Scottish Highlands in the heart of the Carolina Lowcountry. Golf Digest chose Heather Glen as l987's No. 1 new public course, and names it again and again as among the country's best. The course's 27 holes are even lovelier in maturity, its setting is truly spectacular, and the 19th Century clubhouse echoes its Scottish tradition. This 400-acre historic-site is embraced by ancient oaks and pines, an awesome blend of designers Willard Byrd's and Clyde Johnston's talents.
Boasting a rating of 4.5 stars, Heather Glen has become one of the Myrtle Beach area favorites. In fact, Heather Glen has been the recipient of many accolades such as “Top 50 Public Courses in America", "Top 5 in South Carolina" and Golf Digest's "Places to Play.” But the rewards don’t come from nothing; players that flock to this Little River course admire it for its fairways lined with beautiful trees, and the surrounding of marshes and wetlands.
Of course, since Heather Glen plays homage to Scotland, the layout of the course features characteristics that are reminiscent to traditional Scottish elements such as numerous waste pot bunkers and natural waste areas. But, perhaps the Heather Glen clubhouse is the most notable piece of this course that echoes all things Scottish.
Whether you are driven to Heather Glen as a golfer who enjoys traditional links-style courses, or if you just want to experience the beauty of a natural South Carolina setting, then be sure to make a tee time at Heather Glen next time you are in town.
