Description

About Barefoot - Dye

Famed architect Pete Dye maintains his reputation of building both memorable and challenging courses with the Dye Course at Barefoot Resort. Home to the annual Hootie & The Blowfish Monday After The Masters Pro-Am, this course is a hit among the PGA Tour pros and celebrities who play it, as well as the common golfer. This visually stunning design is filled with Dye's infamous pitfalls for wary shots. Working with exceptional elevations and an excellent site, this course lives up to the Dye name. Dye's course is one of four Championship Golf Courses built concurrently at North Myrtle Beach's 2,377-acre Barefoot Resort, and is the only one of the four to be semi-private.

"Excellent course in great condition. Typical Dye course which means not easy, but always interesting. My only complaint is that it is very hard to pick out a correct line for your tee shots. Fairways are angled and the GPs was sometimes misleading on distances to fairway bunkers. Only downside on the course condition was the bunkers - no sand !!! Very hard packed sand / clay in green side bunkers Greens were very good !!! Overall we really enjoyed the course and service and pace of play was great !!!"

"Typical Pete Dye course with the layout being crazy! It required you to know your distances to hit your spots off the tee and around the greens. If you spray the ball then you will always be if those famous Pete Dye waste bunkers lining every fairway and around every green! Very fun course to play and will make you a better golfer after playing it! Also the staff and clubhouse were amazing! First class staff helped us as soon as we pulled up from the bag drop attendant to the pro shop worker, this was a first class experience. Also if you get a chance, explore the clubhouse as it was immaculate! It had an old school country club feel and even had a small hallway with a "Wall of Fame" of all the pros and celebrities that have played the course. Hands down the best experience and course we played for the week...felt like a pro playing on a tour quality course! "

"Starter was very pushy. GPS sent notes that we needed to pick up the pace or needed to skip a hole. The course was in great condition, but constantly being pushed was annoying. If you have not played the course before, its going to take longer than a member. If you want it to be private, then make it private!"

"Overall experience was Excellent. Would have been Superior but cart path restriction and being pushed and heckled by a 3-some was disappointing (our 4-some played in 4 hours, 6 minutes.)."

"This course would have gotten a much higher rating except for all of the recent rain. Considering the amount of rain, it was really remarkable how well the course had drained. We played on January 18, 2016 and it was the first frost of the year; we had the first tee time at 8am, and were the first off the tee at about 9:45am. On the second hole I hit a drive down the fairway and lost my ball in the soft fairway --- fortunately it was the only time this happened throughout the day. Again, for the amount of rain this year the course was still in great shape. Our group played this course on the last day of our three-day trip, and was a unanimous vote as the favorite of the three tracks we played. I am already planning another trip for the late spring and Barefoot will most definitely be on our rotation -- probably one of the other three courses to see what they have to offer. Can't wait!"

"First time playing the Dye course but it was great. It was cart path only (because of overseeding fairways) but this did not change the great experience we had playing."
