WonderWorks Myrtle Beach Adds New Exhibits for 2013

WonderWorks at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach introduced us to their new exhibits last week. The museum for the mind recently added a 6D motion-simulated thrill ride, virtual sports area and the Tesla coil exhibit. They also relocated the Lazer-Tag game.

The XD Theater 6D Extreme Motion-Simulated Thrill Ride is situated in a 12-seat theater. The ride combines 3D effects with seat movements and special effects for one thrilling experience. During the summer months they are showing “Canyon Coaster” which winds you through the Southwest through trains, into caves and down canyons. Hold on to your handlebars and enjoy the ride! Other films throughout the year include “Cosmic Coaster” and “Jet and Jin Jetpack Adventure.”

Robert Stinnett, general manager for WonderWorks Myrtle Beach is especially excited about this new ride. “This 6D ride enables WonderWorks to provide another amazing and fun experience for those who visit the ‘upside down house’ that’s become a Myrtle Beach landmark,” said Stinnett.

The Tesla Coil is another exciting attraction at the museum. Place your hand into an insulated glove and you’re able to touch 100,000 volts of electricity.

Take a stab at the Virtual Sports exhibit while you’re there. You can play soccer, basketball, football, baseball or even Zombie dodgeball!

The Lazer-Tag games have been moved to a new spot within the museum to allow for a huge expansion. The new facility is 2,100 square feet and offers obstacles, a charging station and more as you fight to score the most points in your battle. Lazer-Tag is $3 in addition to the price of admission.

WonderWorks is located at 1313 Celebrity Circle in Myrtle Beach, S.C. General admission is $22.99 for ages 13 and up and $14.99 for ages 4-12. Children ages three and under get in free.
