Willbrook Plantation Cracks Top 10 for “Myrtle Beach Golf Insider Top 25

Willbrook Plantation made the top 10 of the Myrtle Beach Golf Insider's Top 25 courses in Myrtle Beach.

Willbrook Plantation, the renowned Dan Maples design in Pawleys Island, surged three spots from last month’s rankings to crack the top 10 of the “Myrtle Beach Golf Insider Top 25,” as reported recently by the golf course review Web site MBGolfInsider.com. Willbrook has attained this status for the first time since the site’s rankings report debuted in June 2010.

Also, the Moorland Course at Legends Golf & Resort, a P.B. Dye design renowned for its deep bunkering and multilevel fairways and greens, made its first appearance in the Golf Insider Top 25 in September.

The top three slots occupied by Dunes Golf & Beach Club, TPC of Myrtle Beach and Thistle Golf Club remain unchanged from last month, while sister courses Caledonia Golf & Fish Club and True Blue Plantation each move up one spot to round out the top 5.

The rankings are determined by golfers who submit their post-play reviews for publication on the Golf Insider’s Web site, www.MBGolfInsider.com. They are based on the aggregate scores of each participating golfer’s review, where golfers rate on a 10-point scale their course experience in each of six categories: greens, fairways, tees, pro shop, grill and staff.

The complete Top 25 for this month was completed on September 20, with scoring ties separated by total number of reviews for each course (indicated in parentheses). The last figure in each listing indicates the change in ranking since last month:

The Myrtle Beach Golf Insider Top 25 represents a broad consensus of opinion based on thousands of golfer reviews – more than 2,900 alone since January, according to Myrtle Beach Golf Insider Editor Jim Maggio.
